Orijen is a very good food. As for the transition period. This is the method I use with my dogs: Start with a mixture of 25% new and 75% old and feed that for 2-3 days, then step it up to 50% new and 50% old for another 2-3 days, and finally end up with a combo of 75% new, 25% old. If you don't detect any changes in their digestion over the transition period, you can start feeding the new food exclusively.

However, the protein in Orijen is a lot more than RC (9% higher). So I would really watch your pups stools. My dogs loved eating Orijen, but it was too rich for them and their stools became very soft and even runny sometimes.

But there are plenty of great dog food out there. I now switch between EVO, Wellness CORE Ocean, and Solid Gold Barking At The Moon. I am also thinking of trying Before Grain kibbles.

Good Luck!
