Cape Town - A Yorkshire terrier from Diep River was reunited with her owners after being missing for eight months after a motorist found her next to the road.
"I thought she was dead and then she suddenly looked up at me," said Abdurraqeeb Sadien, 21, from Parkwood Estate near Grassy Park.
He found Ollie on Sunday on the Skaapkraal road near Philippi. Sadien stopped the car to move Ollie out of the road.
"All the motorists drove around her and no one would stop."
The little dog was anxious but not underfed.
SPCA spokesperson Lamees Martin said they examined the nine-year-old Ollie and saw that she had been fitted with a microchip with identification.
"That is how we were able to determine that Ollie was reported missing eight months ago and who her owners were."
Ollie's family was delighted to have her back. "We were scared that we would never see her again," said Jane Connolly-Volbrecht.
