How old is your dog? Is he over 3, it could very well be loose because of tartar, and gingivitis. If one tooth is loose, than there's more to follow. Cleaning the teeth only when groomed is not enough. Yorkies are very prone to tartar, and this is one of their major weaknesses. The tooth might be able to be saved, and you probably should get your vets recommendations on cleaning. There are several things I have done to help prevent tartar in Joey; one is Petzlife gel. It is said that it softens tartar, allowing you to brush it away at a later time. I use a dog tooth paste a couple times a week, and Petzlife a couple times a week, at age two Joey shows no signs of tartar. I also think it's important that they have something hard to chew on, many vets recommend kibble, but other foods, such as carrots can stimulate the gums. Bully sticks are another way for the dog to clean their teeth because the chewing action, actually helps scrape teeth, and also stimulates gums.
