You need to take him to the vet ASAP and have them give him a laxative and/or enema. If he is straining to go potty, he can have serious complications and other problems arising from it. You need to be careful he doesn't eat those types of things, though I know accidents happen. Please get him to a vet AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
