oh my goodness. I am so sorry for your loss.

Rice and boiled chicken will be ok for a short time, however I suggest that you research homecooking for dogs here on YT in the Health/Diet section. They need more than just chicken and rice-you absolutely need to supplement with vitamins and minerals, and you may want to add fruits/vegetables/dairy to their diet along with substituting the type of meat and carb.

I have been homecooking for over a year, and I haven't had any problems switching them between types of homecooked food. If you notice your furbabies have loose poo when you switch them off the commercial food onto homecooked, it's probably the toxins from the commercial food leaving their system. Of course, don't let diarrhea take its course untreated for more than a bout or two without discussing with your vet. Make sure they're eating regularly, have access to fresh cool water at all times, and watch them closely for signs of dehydration/hypoglycemia until they are completely switched over to the new food and healthy.
