your correct.... there was a hole ALREADY in the toy. When a dog squeezes the ball with his/her teeth, it makes the hole a little bigger and causes the suction/vacuum effect, so that when the dog stops squeezing it the tongue gets sucked in and stuck in the hole. There is another link in Chai's story about another dog's tongue getting stuck in the same ball. You can see the ball actually stuck on the dogs tongue.
