I had the same issue with Scooter when we started training. After lots of frustration, our trainer recommended buying the rolled dog food (PetsMart and Petco carry for sure, as well as many others). It comes in a giant roll and I just thin slice it like it is cheese. Once it is in round slices, I further cut it into little bite size pieces. They have treat rolls too but the trainer recommended only buying the dog food rolls because then they are eating food instead of filling their little tummies with junk. There are several different flavors. Scooter liked any kind. Plus, while training, one of those rolls provides weeks of treats (if you buy the big ones). PetCo sells roll covers that fit over the end of the big ones so you can store it without a plastic bag. I used the rolled dog food for both the puppy classes and the intermediate classes and they worked great. I still buy one from time to time because he considers them special treats.

Other than that, Scooter loves the Wellness brand Puppy and Jerky treats. I also reward him with a bully stick when he behaves for extended periods.
