Every time I take my dogs in for a "check-up" Dr. Amy gives them a thorough examination - heart, knees, palpates abdomen, lookes at tooties and noodles, skin condition, ears, eyes, teeth, throat. When that is done she ALWAYS checks their toe nails. It is a standing joke between us. I clip their toenails, but if she finds one that needs to be trimmed, she "scolds" me with a sweet look and gets out her clippers. She finishes each exam with plenty of puppy kisses. While the puppy kissing is going on we discuss any questions I might have.

As far as the vaccines go, they are going to a two year schedule on dogs that are vaccinated regularly , except for rabies which is annual. They do an annual heart worm check (we dont' use heart worm meds in the winter). She also recommends that they have a full blood panel on file for comparison later on.

Good luck with Louis's vet visit! I hope he gets an A++!
