My question is two-fold: When is the soonest that Kay T can be spayed safely? I want to spay her before her first heat but when do female Yorkies usually have there first cycle?
My vet wanted to wait to at least see Zoey's adult teeth start to come in. Being as she is small he felt her first heat would be closer to a year in his experience. She is now turning 9 months and will be spayed. The rule of thumb is normally before the 1st heat but the vet also likes to see them do a good bit of their growth. He said that way their bones are pretty much done with their growth.

Yorkie females are like human females as there really is no predictive way to know when the first heat will be...that is what the vet told me anyhow.
