In my opinion the difference between a BYB and a reputable breeder is education, responsibility, and how you handle situations when things go wrong. Lack of education is no excuse, it's too easy to buy a few good books and look up info on the internet. The reason so many come on here with no education before breeding their dog is because they simply didn't care enough or feel the need to educate themselves before they bred. I don't get this since I'll pick up a cookbook before attempting to make something new in the kitchen. How can you not at least learn something about what you're attempting when it has to do with life and death. You don't have to show a dog to get education, you just have to care enough to make the effort. If you're going to do something do it to the highest standard that you can.
