It is frustrating to watch so many incredibly poor representations of the breed being duplicated and fostered off on an unknowing public because people refuse to do a little research or they just don't care. Sometimes I think if I have to hear "but my 5 month old pup is so cute I just have to breed him once before I have him fixed" I'm going to Puck!!!! Of course he's cute, he's a 5 month old pup! Do they know anything about the line that he comes from? Is he anywhere near the breed standard? What does he have to offer the breed? Has he been tested for anything and will he even be allowed to grow up to prove himself? There's no doubt that the show section is a lot more fun but as a relative newbie myself I must admit I have learned here. Mardelin and I have spent plenty of time pming back and forth and sometimes it was to correct me. I've learned and grown alot in the last year and a half and can even help others now on occasion. I look at some of the titles and think I'm not even going to go there. Sometimes I get sick of it and I'll hide in the show section for a while. I agree with Topknot, it's hard to offer your help to someone that you feel is contributing to the downfall of the breed that we love so much. Someday yorkies will probably be a problem breed like the cockers became after they got so popular in the 50s and they will fall from grace. It will then be up to dedicated breeders who are still producing healthy, excellent examples of the breed to bring them back to their glory. And we will because you can't hold these little angels down, you don't own a yorkie, you are owned by one. If you go don't stay away too long, you are needed here.
