AKC CAR still does have their registry going, BUT, since Home Again started their own registration for their microchips, if the dogs chip is scanned only the Home Again registry comes up. You want to be in both. Example, your dog wearing tag with AKC CAR phone #, call that # and your information is given. Everything okay. Where there is a potential problem is if your dogs tag is missing, he is scanned for microchip, Home Again Registry comes up and your information didn't get transferred to that registry like it was supposed to, or transferred incorrectly like mine was, then you can't be contacted and your dog may not be reunited with you.
