I'm looking at your recent pics and I can't tell if some areas are still exposed - it looks like one is, about the size of a nickel maybe? It does look better than yesterday but if the areas are still open, they need to be stitched. Also, once he feels well enough to bend, he'll try to grab those loose loops, so I'm a little worried about that.
The bruise you see is a hematoma, and I wouldn't be too concerned about it unless it grows large very quickly.
