Default Fleece or Cotton???

As U all may already know I'm working on our crate covers, matching bumper pads, mattress and blankies. I'm making mine out of cotton as it is warm for the winter and cool for the summer. I've thought about fleece too, do U all think would the fleece be to hot in the summer? What about the cotton? Think it would be to hot too? Everyone I've talked to around here says cotton wouldn't be to hot. I've made my dolls fleece blankies and they just love them even in the summer...But I have to wonder, I wouldn't want them to be to hot in it during the summer. Just thought I'd ask and see if some of U may know. Can U all help me with this please. Thanks in advance, Lee

I would say fleece would probably be too hot. I know I wouldn't want to lay on fleece during hot summer months...i don't even want it touching my skin!! Cotton would be ideal for summer.

Unless of course, people keep their houses really cold during the summer with a/c. Now, thats a different story.

I love the feel of fleece!!!

BUT! I would want a nice set to LAST!! So I would want to but it in a quality Flannel... Honestly, I have blankets in both and after Dozens of washings the flannel just holds up better, and I wash my girls bedding OFTEN cause I'm alergic to my dogs! But even if I werent, they deserve clean bedding, so a material that will withstand wash after wash is a must!

My fleece blankets I replace after about 6 to 8 washings cause they pill up and I worry about lint in the fibers, lint can cause respritory distress in dogs, and humans (clean those lint traps) so I just toss them!

When will you have them made up???

Smile Crate Cover Sewin' All Done!!!

I thought I'd let U all know I now have the crate cover sewed!! It's cute as can be, I'm waiting on flowers I ordered to get here to make it even cuter. I'm now working on the mattress and bumper pads, I'll post photos as soon as the flowers come in and are on it...And let U know when I get the mattress and bumper pads finished. I looked at walmart and they had the cutest Baby Snoopy fabric but it wasn't in the flannel fabric, I'm thinkin' about making my 2 boys crates in that. Hugs

Just FYI... I am a fabric-a-holic, I quilt and sew up a storm since buting my bernina.... Joanns is having a crazy sal through the 8th and EVERY clearance bolt in the bak is an ADDITIONAL 50% off... so the flannel that I was buying for 3 and 2 dollars a yard was really 1.50 and 1 dollar a yard! I bought whatever was left on the bolts! I sweat.. this was PRICY stuff! I basicly robbed the store! LOL At least thats how it felt! The girls behind me in line were ROLLING their eyes when I got to the cutting counter but there was NO cutting... it was just measuting and ticket printing! HA! I cleaned off 6 bolts of flannel and countless bolts of quilting cotton. And even a whole bolt of Jackson Jaguar materal at 1 dollar a yard to make curtians and a beadspread and pillow cases for my stepsons bed... in case you havent guessed, his favorite team... lol

I got duckies with bubbles, duckies with crowns, swirls with hearts, and tons of cute flannels for the dogs! and cats! I'll just make big donut beds for PIXIE, the queen of beds! she cuttently has 6 in the living room! LOL Thank you Shana! 4 are from her! LOL

Anyway... if you havent hit the sale.. you'll flip at the flannel selection back there! with winter coming to a end, its loaded in the clearance... and some light weight flannel too!

Well I made my girls and my granddaughter & another little baby boy that was born 9 days before her the rag quilts out of flannel and they still to this day are good as the day I made them, & that was over 2 years ago, they really hold up well with washing and drying, so this is another reason I'm making mine out of the flannel. I love flannel too it's so soft! I just post that I'm still working on them so U can go read that post, sorry it's taken me so long to reply back to U. Hugs
