| Onesie conversion help? Can someone who makes onesies into dresses please explain to me what you do with the neck and belly of the t shirt? I have cut off the bottom and hemmed and added ruffles to 4 of them but when I put them on my manequins it is clear that they are too big in the neck and all the way down the tummy. Do you cut them open down the middle and then take them in? Any advice is welcome..they look cute except for that..Also to those of you who put them on their pups, does the little piece that goes over the shoulder lay flat when they wear them? |

| I'm not sure if I can explain it. But here goes... I turn the onesie inside out and take a seam up starting at the neck down to hem. (Think how you would put a dart into a blouse) I attach the skirt and do hemming last. I don't measure because I can eyeball them for jada when I convert a newborn or preemie size onesie.

| Oh.... I trim the excess after I sew up the underneath side.

| I don't know if it helps, I made a how to turn a onesie into a tee shirt tutorial way back when the fashion forum started. It's hurried somewhere in there. I'm sure you can take that and just add a skirt or ruffled and viola! A onesie dress.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Well if you figure it out let me know. I just picked up a couple of really adorable onesies and figured I'd give it a try. I'm not too hopeful thou since I rarely work with stretch fabrics. An suggestions on what stitch to use ?

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | I've been tempted to buy these adorable onesies at the Carter's store but haven't because I wasn't sure. Thanks for asking this. I'm going to bookmark it for later.

YT 500 Club Member | some of my onesies IMG_20130325_144231-1.jpg IMG_20130222_161126-1.jpg Also made dresses out of regular shirts, and altered dresses that became short. Hope this helps!
