2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Help red and white material smearing, how do I make it stop ? Ok I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem ? The red and white striped material that I am using for the other challenge is smearing when I iron it and bleeding into the white. I though it may be due to the steam. So I switched it to cotton/ no steam and still, same thing. It's Very frustrating and it's making me Angry !! I've put in too much work into my dresses for them to be ruined....Ugh !! HELP, is there any way that I can set the color to stop it from smearing?

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Did you prewash the fabric? If not, I wonder if one of those color catcher sheets would pull the excess ink out so it wouldn't bleed in the wash or during ironing. I've never had this happen. I'm sorry I'm not much help. Good luck!

| I prewash everything that will be washed when completed. If it's going into the washer to be cleaned then it needs to be washed before cutting out. I was also thinking of a color catcher sheet. They are fantastic!!

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Im not sure that they can go into the washer. All the ones that I've gotten for Ruby Bella say to hand wash and line dry. Where would I get the color catchers sheets ?

| I think they are made by Tide so check your laundry detergent aisle.

| If the fabric can be hand washed, then follow the instructions for the fabric. Then give the fabric a vinegar rinse using one to two tablespoons white vinegar per cup of water. The vinegar helps to set the dye. It isn't perfect or foolproof, but it helps. Also, you might try lowering the temp setting on your iron and use a pressing cloth. |

| I prewash everything but my silks. If I have a piece that is really bad about bleeding, I will do a wash using dawn dish soap, a thorough rinse, and then a vinegar rinse. It helps considerably. |

I cant prewash or do the vinegar wash now or it may be ruined. After the first few times I used a piece of sew in liner to put over the top. Came off on that too.

I bet your little outfits are cute. If the color bleeds, you might not be able to do anything at this point but chalk it up as a learning experience. I know how frustrating it can be. I don't like using the glittery cotton fabric. I always forget to turn the iron down and scorch the fabric. | |

| I prewashing anything that's going to be worn, so that it shrinks and also to get the sizing out of the fabrics. Color catchers are made by shout also and can be found in the laundry detergent aisle.

| I usually prewash all my fabric. I do have to admit that on a few of Chloe's things I didn't. I will remember to do that and the vinegar rinse from now on. Dawn, I hope you can get it to stop. I know you are frustrated.

| You should wash all fabric before you cut any thing out because of shrinkage. Also try salt in the rinse cycle, if you have done any tye dyeing they recomend that to keep the color;s from running. Other wise when you wash the tye dyed clothing they will bleed. Just a suggestion. This work;s on jean;s too help;s hold the color longer. Hope this help's. Have a great day. Anne/Luci |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I agree with everyone above. Always pre wash any fabric that is washable. And then iron. I do the vinegar rinse also. I know it so a pain but fabrics shrink different. Good luck I hope everything turns out well
