| how to make a blue jean dress Ok, so I want to make a dress of some sort out of some old blue jeans of my daughter. Do I just use a pattern and do this or does anyone have an easier alternative? Thanks so much

| well if you are using a pattern and the upcycled jeans do not fit the pattern itself you can piece it together. so basically like quilting but with jean material to fit the pattern you would just have to sew all the pieces together first. does that make sense?? i have done it before and it comes out great.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | What a great idea! And very thrifty! I'd love to see when you finish your creation! If you decide not to go with the upcycled jeans, I saw lots of jean fabric at the fabric store, all reasonably priced. They had many weights of jean material, as well as cotton that looks like jean material.

| the creme colored harness was made from old denim shorts. The material was big enough, but they were men's shorts, if this is from kids jeans that might have been a different story. Perhaps you could split the pants open like they do when they make those jean purses. I would suggest using a softer fabric for the lining, that's what was done with this vest. With summer coming a pretty pastel gingham material might be cute, you could even just make the bodice out of the denim and add a little gingham ruffle skirt and perhaps a matching collar. I love the look of the yellow and white gingham with denim, or eyelet mixes well with denim, there are a lot of color choices. Should be cute can't wait to see it. oh I did not sew the vests in this picture, my friend did, I just put the finishing things on it. My friend said she did not like working with the old material since it stretched in different places I guess from the wear

| Adorable Donna! You always have unique outfits for your pups!! Its weird this question was asked because literally last night I went through my old jeans and picked about 5 pairs that I want to make into something else for R n R!!! I also found a pattern for a jean dress on Etsy. I tried to cut and paste the store on to here but it wasn't working! The store name is sofiandfriends out of Spokane.

| Thanks Bobbi I have also seen some really cool looking sleeveless jean jackets made for pups, they rag out the seems for that really lived in look, and they either Velcro or button on the underside of the dog like a jacket would be. They either reuse the yoke seam or make a new looking yoke across the back and embellish with hot fix gems or faux studs. To get ideas check out ETSY and goggle jean vests or dresses for dogs and you will get lots of good ideas and then just put your own twist on it.

| Thanks Bobbie and Donna. I will check these out. I was actually thinking of just buying some lightweight jean material instead like Aymee suggested. I like the idea of a lightweight softer lining. I was gonna make it a bluejean top and a red ruffle skirt. Then add some bling to the top. You guys all have great ideas. Thanks again everyone.

When it comes to old material, I am kicking myself that less than a year ago I threw out my wedding dress, it was covered with bling but since I was not planning on having kids I did not preserve it, after 22 years it was starting to yellow, but it would have been fine to cut up for some harness outfits, and it would have been sentimental to boot, but it's in a landfill now
