| Post more pictures of fashion stuff Come on guys post some more photos of what you have been sewing or knitting. In the next few days I will have photos of three new things, but LOL can't wait to see what everyone else has been making. I started a thread a while back about what I needed to have in my sewing kit. Someone in a kidding way suggested a first aide kit or band aides. Last night I finally put a box of band aides in my sewing box. I have now cut my index finger three times pretty deeply. I bought a VERY sharp pair of scissors that are spring loaded and so they are not always closed while laying on the table or ironing board. Darn if I don't keep forgetting and grab the open blade when reaching for them. I have done that tons of times with craft and kitchen scissors but nothing happens, it goes to show you that these good sewing scissors are like two knifes. I think I am going to buy another pair of regular scissors so I don't have to keep remembering to close these all the time. I am so surprised by how much I like sewing these dog things. My next quest is to buy this amazing aqua colored fabric that has lots of raised roses and sequins on it, pair it with two different shades of solid aqua satin for the bodice, bow and waistband. I want to make a dress that combines tulle a short aqua rose skirt and then somehow attach a detachable train made out of the aqua rose fabric. I will then heat set some crystal stones on the bodice. I saw all these amazing designs while in NY but the dogs could not walk in their dresses, so that's why I want to make a detachable train. This way when I return in June I will have something really fancy for Lola, LOL maybe next year I will be a NY designer, only thing is I really don't want to sew stuff for other people.

| How exciting that you are forging ahead even with sore fingers. I never thought to put band aids in my sewing room but I don't have anything that can't be closed when not in use. I even have a lock on my rotary cutter when for when it's not in my hand. I'm a safety freak! LOL I remembered someone posted about making dresses out of baby onesies. I purchased four with complementary tulle (some have sparkles) and plan on putting them together. Just haven't had time yet. You are making me really want to get back into my sewing room. LOL I'm very excited to see your things when you are finished as well. Thanks for the inspiration!!

| after getting blood on my pattern and some of my material because I was to lazy to get right up I figured a box will come in handy. The latest cut was yesterday, it seems like as soon as it heals I do it again, and these deep finger cuts take a while to heal. I have always been a klutz and in a hurry, so I am glad I have not done worse.

| speaking of rotary cuttera are there any secrets to cutting a straight line. I have a lined cutting board but no matter how hard I try to stay on the line, even if tracing it, the cutter seems to track to the side. I gave up using it after running several skirts I was cutting

| Cedric N Lola | Facebook this is what i was working on....before prego took ova....lol......be careful with those scissors!! yikes. i find with the rotary cutter i have to hold the fabric with one hand taught at the top while cutting to get the straightest line possible.

| i will try the cutter again but I am thinking I did use a ruler since i keep one in my sewing bag. In reference to the beading foot, WOW I had no idea that there was foot for that and you could do it by machine, I have been putting trim like that on things and have been doing it by hand, PLEASE post more info on how you do it and if it can it handle individual beads. Love what you did with the dress.

I have a beading foot for my sewing machine as well and it works great for a string of beads but not for sewing on individual beads. That would need to be done by hand. I love what everyone is working on and need to get busy on my own stuff.

It's a foot I got with my new machine. It is clear and plastic and has a little notch on it for the string of beads to go through. It cannot do single beads, just a string. I string the beads on a clear, stretchy cord and use a crimping bead at each end to "lock" the beads on the cord. Then I get it all lined up on my machine and set a zigzag stitch the the correct length and sew very slowly. The foot can only fit a 4mm bead or less. But that seems to be a good size for the dresses. | |
