| I fixed my Mom's sewing machine... So I decided to make my Somi a dress! I am "home" to help my mom move, and I have been trying to convince her to start making dog clothes. She had her "regular" sewing machine out, but was complaining that she couldn't get the bottom bobbin to thread write and just gave up and some how has lost the cord to her big embroidery sewing machine so had temporarily given up when her focus when to packing. Well I decided to fix it, partly because I like fixing things and partly because I want her to make things for me (well my girls, and my "sisters" aka her malteses). Well after cleaning out the dust built up and randomly pushing buttons and changings settings I convinced it to work! And instead of just sewing a straight line to "prove it" I decided to make Somi a dress!! My mom had some patterns, but they needed to be altered for her small size so I based it off the pattern and kind of did my own thing. (I have sewn before but mostly just things like pillows, I leave the fancy work to my mom usually) Since I figured it would end up being a barely hung together dress no matter what I did, I wasn't trying to hard at first. But it ended up coming together rather nicely. It is stretchy tshirt material, so I didn't add any Velcro or other things that would make it more complicated. It still isn't great, but for a random whim I think it turned out decently. http://s1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj582/ashley_herron/First%20Dress%20By%20Me/?action=view¤t=901a8a2e.jpg (I don't currently have Internet not on my phone, so I hope that the photos link right) I am also sad that I haven't kept up with all the awesome creations since I have been so busy the last couple of weeks. my favorite thing on YT is looking at all the adorable homemade clothes! I hope to be able to share lots of new things made by my mom (and maybe be some too) soon!! Also, most exciting of all!! I'm waiting to get an awesome birthday dress for Somi from Bo with kissecollars. I saw a picture and it is adorable. There will be LOTS of pictures and praise to come when I receive them!!! |
