| ties instead of velcro I met a gal in my neighborhood and she has three female maltases, she spends a LOT of money on their clothes, last night she invited me in to see her pups wardrobe She had a lot of beautiful things, she had a selection of dresses that caught my eye, instead of using velcro under the belly, ribbons are attached and wrapped around and form a bow. I took pictures of one of them to share with you ladies. This ribbon is narrow, but she had other dresses with two ribbons and some were wider. Since I have not been around a long time and new to this dog fashion world I am not sure if this is common. I goggled the name on the label and it turned out to be from one of the most expensive dog dress designers I have run across and it seems that most of her dresses are desingned with the ribbon wrap closure. I thought I would share the link because it's fun to dream and get new inspirations. So what do you guys think about this style? Home / Events - Dog Dresses, Pet Apparel, Designer Dresses

| be sure to check out the web site, very fancy stuff but some really cute ideas My friend has some dresses, where she just doubled up two different colored ribbon on top of each other. I normally dont get a D ring on my dresses but on this one I threaded the ribbon through the D ring and I think it might keep it from slipping off the waist band.

| Now that it cute!! I may have to borrow this idea!! I don't particularly like velcro especially at the waist. Most of the things I have made Jada have velcro or buttons. I can really see the benefit to this design. Added bonus you don't have to worry about messing up the bow when you wash the dress. Thanks for sharing that pic Donna!!

| I agree Those dresses are just gorgeous!! I like the hemming too, did you notice most of them are just hemmed with a serger? My mind is racing with possibilities for some dresses I can make for Jada

| Michelle have you made dresses with the ribbon ties before. I thought they would be forgiving if Lola gains a little weight opps just saw your post, I guess you have not tried that yet

| WOW....I absolutely LOVE this ribbon idea! Thank so much for sharing I'm definitely going to try this for comfort for Zhoie. I'm not sure if it's so much her....or just me, I don't think the velcro is comfy for all day wear.

| I thought of doing this... but many people can't tie a descent looking bow. I cannot see my Sapphire sitting still long enough either for that matter...lol.

| Well now...I'm the first to admit...my bows are UGLY But maybe...just maybe if the ties are stable and it's like tying a shoe, I could pull it off I'm going to have to try one just to see

| I am not the best at bows either, but in this case it is like tying a shoe and when I did it on Lola it came out, this ribbon was narrow the other ribbon much wider and both looked pretty good. sometimes I have problem with the velcro getting caught in Lola's hairs she she has so much of it.

| I tried my hand at making a dress similar to this except that I used the ties on the shoulders, they came down and crisscrossed across the chest and then Came up through a small slit in each side, wrapped and tied. No Velcro involved at all. Essentially the neck closure and the waist closure are all tied in together from the straps. And since they cross cross, there's no way Allie is getting out, and it's easier to adjust if she gains weight. I'll see if I can get a picture for reference.
