| ? about belly bands I need to make some belly bands for hubbies Pug who's just a wee bit *plump* . My problem is that between his shape (wedge) and loose, wrinkley skin the cotton type slide off. I thought of using sweatshirt material for the stretch but will it "roll"...any ideas or suggestions? Thanks everyone! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I made some for Joey and had velco on the ends so I could put in as snug as I wanted. I used a cute print to make the belly band and just put a sanitary pad inside it.

| Thanks for answering me Nancy. I do all that too but the cotton doesn't have any "give", PuggerBear is wide at his shoulders and really narrow at his back legs so the cotton just slides right off. I was hoping that by using a stretchy top & bottom that it would grip a bit. Does that make sense? |

| There is a lady on Etsy who makes some with elastic and they are great for the pups who manage to wiggle out of the regular ones. Not sure about for pugs, but might be worth trying them out: Custom Pet & Tack by custompetandtack on Etsy If you don't see prints that you like, she is great about special orders!

| Thanks LadyJane,I'll go look. You're not confused Nancy,I'm just not explaining myself very well. Pugger is/was extremely wide all the way down his body-Pugs are usually block shaped, when he had his stroke it affected his back end and there is some muscle loss. Pugs also have loose wiggly skin so if I don't make his bands a touch wider than normal they bunch up in front of his hind legs and then he walks out of them. I guess what I'm asking is if I make them stretchy will that help hold it in place or will the long sides just roll up. |

| I know this post isn't supposed to be funny, but the image of my little Maxie in his "Sham-Wow" man-band is too funny! Max was about 5# when I realized we weren't getting anywhere with the potty training, and I had all new carpet in the house. I cut strips of car chamois and lined them with ultra thin sanitary pads. I secured them with tearable bandage tape, and they work perfectly. My niece, a veterinarian, first dubbed him "Sham-Wow" boy, and he's been that ever since. He's good to use his pee pads when I'm home and remind him... but that diaper is wet every time I check him, and what goes in the diaper doesn't go on the carpet! |

| LOL,don't feel bad, I know we must look like a bunch of fools chasing Pugger around and yelling "Pugger STOP!! you're having a wardrobe malfunction!" I'm glad that you found something that works for Max, I guess that I'm going to do like Nancy said and experiment. Maybe I'll make a dent in my fabric stash! | Maybe make him some suspenders using velcro to hold the Belly Band more forward?

| Thanks everyone for all of the links & ideas! I'm going to look at all of them and see what would work best for PuggerBear. |
