| HELP...Esbilac How Much To Give???? Tiffanie is drying (I kinda thought she might with having so many, she never did with her 1st litter but what a diffrence 2 more can make) (3 teats dried up now, Started hand feed yesterday evening)up due to her having so many pups, I took her to the vet today and she said replace with Esbilac...I ask the vet how much, She said whatever the Esbilac says...(Well the Esbilac can says 2 TABLESPOON's per 4 oz of body weight...The daily feeding amount should be divided into equal portions for each feeding.) Is CC's the same as ML's??? Vet gave me a syringe that has 1.0 ml on it...How much would I give of these syringes? 1 or 2 syringes or just 1/2 or like 0.4 ml??? I just don't want to overfeed or underfeed. They can eat off her 1st vet said but then I need to feed every 2 hours round the clock....I don't mind doing it I love feeding them. Can U all help me. I tried the bottles but they have a hard time getting it out, so I thought until they get a little older then I can syringe feed. Any tips in this...I had to bottle feed Isabella some but she took to it & nursed off Tiffiany, NONE of these will suck right to get it out of the nipple...I've tried making more holes in the nipple with a needle heated (Just like I did when I had Heather 23 years ago!), but I'm afraid I'm not doing it right, maybe I'm just nervous??? Any help apprecaited. They are gaining weight. I'll post weights in the nursery section later, got to feed now!! Hugs, Lee & Babies |

| I hope all is going well with those babies. Over a year ago, I had a girl get eclampsia with 4 puppies after nursing for about one and a half weeks. We had to take over the feedings which was difficult considering they'd already been used to sucking on momma. I had an awful time getting them to suck on the little bottles, so the vet told me to take the tip of my little finger and place it to their mouth, don't force it in, just place it there, eventually the baby would start to suck on the tip of my finger and then I placed the nipple in and I couldn't believe it. They started sucking the bottle and we nursed them until weaning. As for the amount, I would heat the formula and fill the bottles to the top line, then feed each baby until they pulled away from the bottle....then picked the next one up and did the same. I kept a chart of the babies and weighed them morning and night to make sure they were getting enough. I didn't worry so much about the amount the label said they should drink, I just made sure that I had prepared more than I thought they would want. Make sure they stay warm. This worked for us, I hope it helps.
