| Sophie had five babies Well, Sophie had five babies....i'm not sure yet what all they are...i know there is at least one boy. I haven't handled them too much since they were just born on Sunday. I was right on with the date. They get thier tails docked tomorrow, and i am worried that it will hurt the babies, everyone tells me it will be fine, and it's less traumatizing when they are this little, i'm just worried about infections and things like that. I will upload a pic to show you. yorkiemomma7 |

| Good Girl, Sophie What a darling picture. Sophie did such a good job, and that is a lot of babies because she looks small. How exciting and did the birth go okay? No problems? Congratulations and look forward to more pictures.

| Yes, she did awesome!!! After the fourth one i thought she was done, then about thirty minutes later, out came another....to my surprise. She looks like a train wreck in the picture i posted, but i remember what it's like to have kids....it is very tiring. she's doing well, eating and drinking, and paying lots of attention to her little ones, she gets out of her bed to go potty and get something to eat..and of course visit with me for short periods...she doesn't leave them for long..she's been a terrific mommy so far. A question though, after she's had the puppies, how long before you can give her a bath again...she really needs one, but i was afraid if i did and used soap, the babies would be able to taste it on her......and then not eat anything. Thanks I will post more pics as they progress. yorkiemomma7 |

No Longer a Member | No....she's absolutely beautiful in the picture! I don't know what it is, but there is something positively endearing in seeing an exhausted mommy nursing her babies. Maybe it is having gone through it ourselves as mothers...I don't know, but that picture shows both her strength and her fragility as a mother all in one. Congratulations |

| Congratulations!! I'm glad everything went well for her and you. I didn't know they had that many babies, I'd only heard of 2 or 3 at a time. It's amazing all the things you can learn on this site. |

| I love the look of contentment on Sophie's face - she knows she's done a good thing. Bless her heart. Those babies are so precious. Congratulations.

| thanks all of you for your nice comments...She's a wonderful mommy. And yes, i'm a proud "grandma" Sophie I believe had that many because she is not a toy yorkie...she's a yorkie poo, although i don't notice any "poodle" features, except for her long neck.....I did not think she would have more than four myself. She really shocked me on this one! I took them to the vet today for the docking and dewclaws. they go back in ten days from Sunday for thier first worming medication. They all seem to be in good health, they all weigh about 90-93 ounces or however that is in doggie weight... Does anyone know how long it usually takes before they start to get the hair? I mean they are smooth coated right now, ( one of my neighbors said they didn't look like yorkies, they looked like miniature rotts...lol) yorkiemomma7 |

| Do not worry about the tail thing I just got 8 pups done 4 weeks ago all is well..They spray something on the tail to numb it. I was just wondering how much is your vet charging you? mine charged $33 for the first on and $8 for each additional..I thought that was good..You are going to love haveing those pups around.. mine are just now playing and running around IT IS AWSOME..GOOD LUCK and CONGRATS

| my regular vet was going to charge 35 dollars per dog, plus his office fee, then he was going to give me package deal on thier first shots when the time came. So, I decided to call the local vet here in town, which is the animal hospital, and he only charged me a 30 dollar office visit, plus 5.80 per puppy for the docking and dew claws....which i thought was a great price considering what my regular vet had quoted me. It was like 60 dollars total. they will go in for thier worming, and he said it's only like a dollar per puppy...I plan on taking them in for the first worming and buying the stuff to give them for the worm treatments thereafter....easier on me, and less money. Not that i wouldn't have paid my regular vets price, but this vet is closer, and i don't have to take the babies too far of a drive...plus, the mommy gets car sick. yorkiemomma7 |
