| Easy had pups last night! Yea!! Well, Easy finally had here pups! It was her first time and my first in several years. She did great, but what a night. We finished at 3AM! The first one came Posterior and Upside Down. We had to work on getting this one out. I had to reach up and help to turn her and work with Esy's contractions to get her out. The head was stuck for awhile. But we finially got her out and had the cord twisted around the pup. What a mess. She was gasping at first, but got all the fluid out and she picked right up. I am calling her Breezy! She weighs 5.5 oz. and loves to nurse. She goes right to town! The pup 2 came face first - normal, but for some reason had a lot of fluid. Infact we couldn't get the fluid all out at first and had to work at it - you could tell though that the pup would not make it. My hubby worked on him for 45 min. I told him it was too late, but he didn't want to give up. It was a cute male pup. The third pup came out quick and no problem at all. A little fluid, but we quickly got it out and he was doing great! He weighs 4 oz. I am calling him "Starry Knight." So we have 2 pups - one small male and one fat female. Just what I like! Mom is doing great too and such a good mommy! Lines of the pups are Parkside and Durrer. Well, here are some photos to enjoy. T. Last edited by topknot; 12-07-2006 at 06:32 AM. |

| Thank you all so much. My hubby left for work this morning so sad - feeling like he had left the puppy down. He did great CPR and tried sooo long to help that pup. It just wasn't meant to be. I may have waited a second too long to open its sack - but he had such a short cord and I was trying to cut the cord before I worked on the sack. It is just easier that way. I will never do that again -next time it's sack first cord last. You could tell he was alive until he was just about to come out. I do not think a novice could have done this litter, and especially with the first pup being presented in that posterior and upside down manner. In the book - it states this position usually needs vet assistance and pup usually dies. People thinking that breeding and birthing pups are so easy are so misinformed! And especially when they do not even try to learn how to deliver a litter - they think the mom will do everything - this is so wrong! Well, having 2 pups are better than 1. I can't wait till the pups get bigger! T. |
