Try rescueing a yorkie. I rescued 2 babies from a puppy mill in Kansas(I'm in NYC) They are wonderful dogs. I have them for 4 years now. They were afraid of people when I first got them but have adjusted nicely. Go to Petfinder.com and put in what type of dog you want and they will email you with dogs that match . And you will be saving a precious life.

I also would like to get a Yorkie. I've owned Yorkies before and had 2 at the same time. They both lived long lives. 16 and 15 years. I live in Southern California in Orange County and would appreciate anyone directing me to a reputable breeder. I am interesting in a yorkie with a beautiful long coat. I've already looked into rescuing. Thank you!

1)Find you a competent, reliable, responsible breeder. 2)Start reading every reputable book you can find, on what you should be seeing in a Yorkie. 3)Understand what is acceptable in a yorkie, and what is not. 4)Hang around dog shows and see and learn everything you possibly can, about what an exceptional yorkie actually is. 5)Find you an exceptional vet that specializes in small dogs, especially yorkies. 6)After you have done all the above, you will find the perfect puppy.

I love that I rescued my Monty. He just turned 9 months old and has learned how to be a puppy! Such a serious wee thing when I got him. Now he romps and "attacks" and does his ferocious lil growl and prances and licklicklickerlicks!! Very very glad he gets to experience being a baby. Nod nod. Yep.

Please consider adopting. There are many beautiful dogs in shelters that need homes. Especially in California.. I am constantly seeing Yorkies at the Downey Shelter
