Peeing on furniture??? Hi! I'm new here and have a new 8 week old female yorkie that I just adore! We let her sleep in the bed with us and sometimes she pees in our bed I know her water needs to be limited but thats hard to do because we have one big water dispenser out for all of our dogs. Its too heavy to move every night. Any other suggestions?

| She's only eight weeks old? How long are you expecting her to go at night without peeing?

I know it's hard, but she would do better with crate or pen training right now. At 8 weeks, she still has limited control over elimination behaviors. It's not fair to her (or you in the long run) not to get her started on the right paw. What I do with young pups is set up a night time crate in my bedroom so I can hear when s/he needs to go potty. When I got my first toy pup, I got a small crate and set in on a little end table right beside the bed - not as good as snuggling, but I could still see and hear her without getting my lazy self out of bed. Toy pups 'graduate' to an X-pen with a small open crate and a potty pad until I know they are 1) ready to sleep in my bed without accidents, and 2) able to safely get on/off the bed (via the stairs I have set up for them) to use the potty pad which is eventually moved out of my room. The other possible danger of sleeping with a puppy that small is the risk of rolling over her and smothering her. I know it doesn't feel like a risk, but a friend of mine is an investigator for child death and injury - you'd be surprised just how many babies are smothered to death by sleeping in their parents' bed. It's heartbreaking. Remember now, a human pup is a great deal larger than a Yorkie pup. Just a head's up.

She sleeps in the spot between our pillows to prevent any dangers of being rolled over. I've tried crating her and she cries like you wouldn't believe. I just can't imagine being that distressed could be good for her.

For the first few weeks, i woke up around 3am and took her to her potty pads. Sometimes she peed other times she didn't, but she's never peed in my bed (although she has vomited a few times.

I'm not a fan of limiting water.....I would say either set her up an ex pen (in your room if possible) with her bed on one side and a pee pee pad on the other side....or keep her crate in your room on a table next to your bed....she's so little she's probably missing her buddies!

Thanks Kazzy. I don't like limiting water either. The weather here is making it hard for us to take her out for potty training. She pees EVERYWHERE. She even peed on my husband tonight. He was not happy!

I found that putting my t-shirt (after I wore it that day) as part of their bed, keeps them quiet. Once they get to know your scent that is. I've done this with my 3 Yorkies and my grandkids when they were babies, worked on them too☺️
