| Growth & Development Question My Lucy is a mixed breed Yorkie/Silky. I was wondering about when I should (or IF I should?) be expecting her fur to change color and when I should expect it to get long; right now she still has the short scruffy fur on her back and body that she's had since she was a tiny pup. Her head hair is changing colors now; she loks like a blonde that dyed her hair black; her roots are showing bigtime. Anyway, I see all these pics of long-haired Yorkies (and the same with Silkies) and was just wondering about how old the dog is when it's evolved to its final form (Pokemon, anyone?). She's about 17 weeks now. Thanks!

| While the biggest changes happen during the first two years, most yorkies will continue to change throughout their lives. |

| My two change with the seasons, since our sun is so strong and they spend so much time outside, Abby turns so silvery and Ziva actually turns a dark dark brown. I'm sure some of it is also from the chlorine swimming pool! I cut Ziva very short after the swim season is over and she grows in like black crushed velvet. Abby has a silver streaking with black roots. Their heads and legs grow in from a light blonde to a rich tan. They are 5 and 3 and it took me a while to figure out their changes. |
