YT Addict | Lil Pips born 5/11/14 Pics Pips is coming home tomorrow. I wanted to set up this paeg to document his growth. He was 2.5 oz at birth. He is 7 wks two days and weighs l lb. He is the smallest of the litter of five (two girls, three boys ranging from 2.5 to 4.8 oz at birth). Both of his parents are AKC and weigh 5 lbs. I am a stay at home so spend 24/7 with my fur babies. I also have a 14 lb male Biewer, Bailey who is 6 yrs old. Last edited by valeriejsmyth; 06-29-2014 at 06:42 AM. Reason: add photos |

| He is cute, and oh so tiny. I am just surprised that the breeder isn't keeping him with his mommy until 12 weeks, which is recommended, especially since he is so small. It is a very important time for his health and socialization to be with mom. I highly recommend that you consider leaving him longer as 7 weeks and 1 lb. is just too early.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Congrats ! He is a cutie. . . I would see if he can stay a few more weeks. The toy breeds tend to have a slower maturity rate then the large breeds. Also they learn 8-12 weeks socialization and bite inhibition skills. Also make sure you have Nurical on hand.

YT Addict | New pics off Pips 7/3/14 Well, an update for Pips - he's doing quite well. He is completely paper trained. He wakes me up once a night to go potty and goes right back to sleep. I have no complaints, he's been a total joy. Loves to play with his toys and a real cuddlebug. I am feeding him four ttimes a day to make sure he's gaining weight. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow to check his weight progress. New photos just taken. He just ate a big meal so I put him in his crate so he doesn't burn off those calories before he goes down for the night. He's laying next to me on my bedside. | I estimate you'd feed an eighth of a cup of food twice a day. Its a little handful. I feed wet food around 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, and leave a little dry food out for them all the time. If you order the 20 lb bag of Lifes Abundance, it should last a long time. The autoshipment of L.A. will save you on shipping, and get you the best price for the dog food. >>> Hypoglycemia this is a good way to make sure your puppy doesnt run out of energy or blood sugar, which will cause hypoglycemia. Their tummy is too tiny to eat enough at one meal to last all day. They have to be able to get to the food during mid day, to re fuel. Make sure they learn where the food is so when they feel low, they can go snack. I soak their Lifes Abundance dry food with hot water for about 1 minute at first. >>>>>>> Soon you can stop the soaked food and just feed the dry. At first give them a choice, and make sure to leave some dry food down during the day and night, where they can get to it all the time. If they are on a hunger strike and will not eat, you can drop a few drops of chicken broth on their LA food to encourage them to eat it. Be aware of whats in your chicken broth... some have onions or MSG which are not healthy for dogs. Last edited by Fltekdiver; 07-09-2014 at 01:54 PM. |
