| Furbaby nursery help My little girl Emma had her first litter of 5 puppies 10 days ago and I need some ideas on floor coverings. I have a plastic storage box lined with towels for the pups that is inside a fenced doggie playpen. I have been lining the floor with wee pads for mommy to potty on but I have to replace them a lot so I'm really going through them and they're not cheap. I have to cover the entire area because it's carpet underneath. Unfortunately I have no tiled area I can move them to. I was hoping some one has some good ideas on how to protect the carpet in a more affordable way. Thanks for the input!! |

| what about those flannel backed vinyl tablecloths you can get at wal-mart, dollar store, etc. they're cheap, waterproof and are pretty good sized. |

| That's what I use under the x-pen, they work great and they can be wiped down or hosed off, and hung to dry. I think you might want something sturdy under it though to stop any run off on to the carpet. Maybe a desk chair floor cover or something like that, you know the kind that makes your chair roll better, you can get them at staples. Or you could even use a piece of plywood. My husband built a tray out of wood that the whole pen could sit in, it was just plywood and two by fours and I put the table cloth over it and then set the pen in it. This stopped anything from running onto the carpet. I put a puddle pad in the pen for her to use, then there was only one to change, it would also help the pups Learn where to go. Just a thought. |

| I use a linoleum remnant under my xpens. Works great and you can roll up and store away when not needed. Good luck!

| [F]Hi. I am addicted to this site but don't think I've posted before. Haven't felt I was knowledgable enough about a subject to contribute anything. But I have found something that works well for me in this situation. I buy a roll of carpet protector from Lowe's or Home Depot. It's like a big 2 1/2 foot wide roll of scotch tape. Costs around $15. It sticks to the carpet, wipes up easily- I even mop it! It's the stuff construction workers or movers use to protect flooring. I put down a number of rows and it stays in place for the duration of puppies' time with us. Then just pull it off and throw it away.[/FONT]
