As the Owner of several "Off" colored yorkies (three Chocolates and a Biewer), I was initially shocked to see so many colors in one litter. And, even tried to remain neutral minded on your overall post and not pass judgment. But, after seeing pictures of blues as adults with little to no hair as seen with Rae Rae's little girl, I personally would not intensionally breed for blues. As unique and healthy as the Parents may be, IMO it just doesn't seem right to knowingly put your puppies overall health at such a risk right from the start. I certainly wish your babies and their future Owners the best of luck.

It sounds like from your birth announcement that you are a very loving person and wanted to share your joy....Alot of viewers got on your case...I know they have their reasons, but the puppies are here now...Just be the caring mom you can be...I'm sure prayers go out to you and your new arrivals....

Thank you for your kind thoughts. Like KDAHMEAN, I may have to face some pretty tough decisions with these puppies. It would be most appreciated if those decisions could be discussed here (and perhaps grieved over here).

I agree. That is the point I was trying to make but I guess it did not come out right. I think we should all think positive. This forum to me, is to send out congrats and prayers to the new babies. I hope they are healthy and happy!!

I find if you are an upcoming vet/vet tech I would think you would agree with the educational/informational post about blue borns

I never once said I believe she should breed her dogs, because I dont believe anybody should for purposes other than keeping the top of the breed alive. As many animals as I see on a daily basis that have been hit by cars, abused, neglected, or even are sick because of genetic problems, I encourage many people to spay/neuter or atleast to breed ethically and with all proper testing and research on their dog and their pasts. I was simply making a statement that must have come out wrong. I believe she came to this forum looking for somebody to share her joy with her. These puppies are alive and healthy for the time being. I believe we should all think positive and pray. She knows the breeding was wrong, as she has stated. Not everybody has been informative in their posts. Many people have jumped down her throat. I just hate seeing that done.

I believe your just seeing a really light blue adult coat when you see the "silver" yorkies.

For the OP, congrats on your large litter, I would love to see how their coats mature so please keep sharing pictures. I hope your blues do end up to be healthy and full coated adults

Thanks for clearing that up Whitney.

I think there is a big difference in "silver" yorkies. They have lighter colors than a steel blue yorkie, BUT they do not have a possible death sentence hanging over them because of their coloring. A Blue born puppy is facing a whole lot more than just a different color. IF they live, and IF they stay healthy, that in itself is a miracle in my opinion. Yes, some survive. They are the exceptions. I just think there is a difference in a "flaw" such as silver hair and a "defect" as in a blue born puppy.

I am in no way trying to say that these babies don't deserve a chance. And if they were mine, I would do whatever I could to keep them healthy and pray that they stay that way. All I am saying that I think is wrong is that once a pair has had this kind of DEFECT, they should not be bred again no matter what. EVEN though the other puppies survived and seem to be doing ok. THey are the lucky ones. And luck always runs out sooner or later.

As for a silver tan parent. If you are not buying a puppy to show, there is no reason not to get a silver/tan or a black/gold or any color as long as it is genetically healthy.
