I try to always post positive and have stayed out of this conversation so far. But that being said, I will say that I think your puppies are adorable. All puppies are adorable, but I am sad for them too. I HOPE they do beat the odds and grow up healthy. I just cannot agree with intentionally breeding a pair that has already birthed blue born puppies. Its like when it is the first time, shame on me.. the second time, shame on YOU! When you breed 2 healthy dogs with no known genetic defects, and you have a puppy with a defect. It is not your fault. But when you deliberately breed that pair again and have more puppies with defects. SHAME ON YOU. It is then YOUR fault. NO innocent puppy should have to go thru what these puppies may have to go thru. It is like playing russian roulette with thier lives.

1. When I went to the website about off-color Yorkies, I was reminded of everything I don't like about some breeders. Very snotty, high opinion of self, their way is the only true way. there was a very notorious political person who thought all people should only be blond haired and blue eyed. We all know how that ended...

2. This breed has changed dramatically over the years as we have all seen in recent posts of pictures, etc. I'm sure it is not done changing. Lots of breeds have different sub-sets that include wire-haired and smooth coat, 13" or 15" height, many different colors. And the AKC is recognizing more new breeds (which had to come from somewhere!) all the time. It's possible there might be a new classification that would include different colored yorkies -- HEAVEN FORBID!

3. If we were only concerned about a true health issue, I would be on board with concerns about breeding. But she hasn't got any unhealthy dogs! Where do we get off thinking we know what will happen to her dogs? I may make a different choice for my dogs and my breeding program (small as it is). But she isn't populating the world with unhealthy dogs. And her 8 puppies sold on limited registration aren't going to "dilute" the Yorkie gene pool.

4.. You really gotta be BRAVE to post on YT. Its like a mine field of judgments and you never know when its going to blow up in your face. I've seen some amazingly compassionate acts here -- saving puppies, helping those that have lost their best friend. But I've seen the opposite too. By all means express your opinions -- just not your judgments.

5. Now I'm going to go play with my puppies (all properly black and tan) -- and wait for the birth of my next litter from the mom who threw a LS puppy, and pray that we are lucky enough to have healthy pups -- whether they are skittles or not.

Yorkie hugs everyone,

If you want the whole sad little story of how this came to be, check out the following thread. You'll know why color is just not so important to me.

No...like I said your post sounded intentional and was a shocker for some. Can't read every post and remember them all. I'm glad you did not breed her again intentionally knowing about the LS. I hope and pray for you and the babies that they are healthy.

I can relate to this post. the way you posted that, it really did sound intentional and that can really light some fire under some people. I can honestly say that I had never read that other thread so I for one was unaware of what all has happened. so to make a comment like what you did leaves people to assume. now, had you made that statement, then posted a link to the other thread...we could have known better. But the way it was left, it really sounded like you were "proud" of it. Now we know better...and I, personally, hope that everything turns out great for you...and I"m sorry you are having to go through such loss with not breeding them anymore. You are doing the right thing and should be commended for that.

ah, so breed has changed spontaneously and has nothing to do with breeders trying ON PURPOSE to isolate and breed certain genetic/physical characters (such as size, color, etc.) ?

i agree it is possible that AKC could come with a new classification but i don't think they will include dogs that are prone to genetic defects or health problems. Now that would be insane
