| i am not sure i understand is there a difference in a yorkie and a yorkshire terrier? and also this one lady practically yelled at me cause i said my t-cup yorkie had died. she told me there was no such thing. so is there? cause Das my baby that died was way smaller then the puppy i have now and she is the same age as he was when he died. maybe a few weeks older, but definitely a size different. just wondering.

| Yorkie is just a shortened version of yorkshire terrier..like a nickname.... but it is the same thing. there IS no such thing as a teacup yorkie. yorkies are in the TOY category. what some people call a teacup is just a tiny yorkie. tiny yorkies tend to have more health problems because of thier size. some breeders breed too small of yorkies to get tiny tiny puppies, call them teacups and sell them at inflated prices. a reputable breeder breeds for the standard which is up to 7 lbs. when a "breeder" calls a yorkie a teacup, they usually do it to get a much higher price for it. I am so sorry to hear of your baby dying. that is so sad and often the result when a yorkie is so small. I hope you have a nice healthy baby now.

| Sorry to hear you were chastised and so sorry about your yorkie dying. People use the word teacup to refer to their size. Doesn't give anyone the right to yell at you, the owner. |

| Hi there HI Breanna, Sorry to hear about your loss.......... and also a congrats on your new puppy. You ask some really good questions and hope you hear some good answers. It is true that the AKC does not recognize a "teacup" Yorkie. You can read about the standard on the AKC sight. There are so many bad breeders that use the "Teacup" sales pitch..... and it really irritates some Yorkie owners that truly love the breed and want to see it continue with success. Hope to see some pictures of your puppy soon!

| oh, that's sad. Did the other dog attack or was it more of an accident? I'll bet you were devastated. What did the other dog's owner do? I'm a newbie here too, and I've learned a lot - sometimes people get a little excited over different issues.. whew! But - the yt'rs are great people who are very caring and will help you out with any issue! |

| it was kinda both, my brother had moved out of my parents and was supposed to have gotten his dog before mine got there. but had some problems with the land lord, cause she is a rot. she is a very sweet girl though. never had problems before. she was raised with 6 babies (human babies) so they are always pulling on her. anyway i brought das home and always watched close. he wanted to play she didnt so i didnt let him around her. i was in my room and told das to go to bed. i thought he had, my little girl went out of the room to get water and i guess he ran out with her. he just learned how to go upstairs, so he decided to go play with the rot, but was in "her" room. i guess he tried to eat her food so she bit his neck. i heard a yelp and my other little brother yell Bre! i knew what happened. my other brother came and got her and took her somewhere. its heart breaking. my mom tried to see if there was anything she could do but there wasnt. i couldnt go up there for weeks.

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Your initial questions have been answered....I would just like to welcome you to Yorkie Talk, offer my condolences on the loss of your little das (what an awful thing to witness), and to also welcome your new little girl. Keep asking questions.........this is a great site to learn many things about yorkies(yorkshire terriers). Like the teacup issue (it is just a "term" to describe a VERY small yorkie); the "term" teapot has also been used I've learned here, to describe a yorkie that is over the standard (3-7 lbs) size.
