| Single puppy is 1 1/2 days old, and Mom is still nesting This is Paisley's second litter and this time she only had one little boy (6oz) Tuesday night. He's in great condition and loving having 100% of the attention on him already! Paisley had him in her whelping box (a tent...the same one she had the first litter in), but prior to having him, she was digging and nesting under the bed. Last night she began doing the very same thing again last night and just leaving the puppy alone for a few minutes. She did not do this in the last litter. She's being a great mother otherwise, barely leaving his side and letting him nurse as long as he wants. Is this normal? |

| Is it possible that she has another puppy still in utero? I only ask because the breeder of my golden was told 14 puppies by the vet via x-ray and a day after delivering the 14 puppies she had two more.

| Are you absolutely sure there are no other puppies in her still? Was the placenta accounted for? Has the vet seen her? If you haven't already you need to get her to the vet right away. She could have another pup in her which if not delivered soon could make her ill or even kill her. Please if you aren't sure whether their is another pup or not, please take her to the vet to make sure. Now if you have taken her to the vet and she has no other pups and is in great health then I wouldn't worry about her as much. Destiny never nested before having the pups. But after having them she was always digging and nesting. So if you are sure there are no other pups then she should be fine. Keep a close eye on her.

| Congratulations on your singleton. My Diva only had 1 also...1 little girl, Duchess. She is a chunky little thing not having to worry about fighting for food!!! I'm getting ready to post her 9 week old pics. It has been so much fun but since you've already been through it, I'm sure you know the joy it is watching them grow....are you going to keep him? Well, Duchess is going to be a permanent fixture in our family!!

| Sorry it took so long to get back...but everything is ok! Still not really sure why she's nesting, and it has slowed somewhat though. The vet said she's in good health and of course my little man is because he gets all the food! He got his little tail docked yesterday and he cried FAR more than my last litter combined! You might say he's already spoiled rotten at 4 days old. I'm not sure yet if I will keep him. I had planned on selling him, but now that it's just him...I might be more easily convinced Every little thing that he does, everyone just "oohs" and "ahhs" over it! |

| I'm glad everything turned out ok. I'd keep him if I were you.
