Got you e-mail, and it was too big to use as an avatar, nondonating members can only use an avatar no bigger than 75 pixels, in inches thats about 1.042 inches. One of the advantages of becoming a member is a larger avatar. I posted the smaller version on your profile page, let me know if you have any trouble uploading it. Remember first save it to your computer, then upload it as your avatar.

Question

Ok I downloaded the program and can't even find out how to do step 2 ??

Some graphic programs come with animation programs, but for those of you who don't have such a program, Photoscape offers a free program that's easy to use. Photoscape : Free Photo Editing Software Download. Just download the program, and go to the AniGif part. Set the size for you avatar where it says, "Set Canvas Size", most people use a square the size of 125x125 pixels. If you make a rectangle, the largest size can't be over 125 pixels. This is the size for a donating member; non-donating members have to use a smaller file size, which can be no bigger than 75x75 pixels.

After you downloaded the program, did it leave a short-cut on the desktop? If so click on this and the program will open. This picture is what you should see. The main two parts of the program that you'll probably use is "editor" and "AniGif". Use Editor to crop you pictures, and frames and borders or "text", or you can skip this and start with with the AniGif part for a simple avatar.

Go to the editor part of the program; choose "Margin" for the border. You can make this as wide as you wish, and any color, and repeat this step for additional border colors. Next go to frame, and select a frame, this can be made wider or narrower by adjusting the little lever next to the words "100%". You can also add more than one frame, by selecting the option of "Photo + Frame next to the words "100 %." See the picture for details.

Confused

Perhaps the size is my problem... A couple nights ago, I made the avatar (until 1:30am! I really get into my projects AND my little Lily isn't here until next Tuesday-what else is there to do, sleep?...)- Anyway, the pictures rotated so nice.... Yeah - then comes the time to try to download and everything went south from there! yes, I saved it to my computer first... So you're thinking my poster size pictures could be the problem??? tee hee...

Yes, that's usually the problem, just one "pixel" size too much and it won't upload as a moving file. On the page where you upload your avatar, it will tell you what your file size limits are. If you are a non-donating member, you're avatar cannot be over 75 pixels or exceed 20 KB. Remember if it's a rectangle, the largest side cannot be over 75 pixels, so that's why the crop feature is nice because you can make the picture square and the overall picture looks bigger.

Great job, I just noticed the program has a help section that takes you to an online video of how to do certain things; the program can do a lot more than I originally thought. Congratulations on getting a new baby. I got Joey two years ago, right before Halloween too. He's a real "treat."

Thanks so much for posting this how-to-guide! I haven't figured out how to make mine fancy with all of the sparkles and letters, but baby steps... I was feeling so good after I posted the avatar that I even customized my profile page. LOL!

Okay so I made my first avatar and I finally got the hang of it... the only this is, I feel like there isn't enough different types of graphics and frames to make cute things... am I missing something?
