| 2 Texas Panhandle Yorkies for Sale Hi All! I am new to the forum, but my wife and I have been reading the threads here for awhile. I have one male yorkie who is 20 weeks old (weighed 3 lbs at 16 weeks, unsure now, but he's not much bigger, if any). He has had all his shots and has been wormed, groomed, and is puppy pad trained. Also, I have one female yorkie, 13 weeks old, unsure of her weight (she is a chubby little thing, though and slightly bigger than the male described above, she has not had her rabies shot yet or been wormed, but she is puppy pad trained. The male is UKC registered and the Female is CKC registered. I am only asking what I paid for them $700 for the female and $600 for the male. Ok....now for the reason why we are searching for new homes for them.........Please don't judge us....... ......I'm really nervous to write this because of the potential fallout, but here goes.........We originally intended to get one yorkie, then we decided we liked two, so we purchased two females from the same litter (sisters) and had them about a week. Then, we decided if we got a male from a different litter, we could breed them since it is so hard to find yorkies here. I know, I know.......Most of you reading are enraged that we would think of breeding so casually, but I'm sorry to tell you, this happens all the time in the real world and we really didn't see anything wrong with it at the time -- boy were we ignorant and naive! However, my wife stumbled upon your site trying to learn more about the breed and she showed it to me, and now with all the knowledge about breeding (the ups and downs) we have gained here on the site, we have decided not to breed our yorkies as we had previously planned for numerous reasons....way to many to list but some of which included, not being AKC registered, not knowing anything about faults, floppy ears, don't know what "good example of breed standard" actually looks like, didn't know yorkies have such a hard time having babies, etc." Those of you who are fuming as you read this can now breathe a sigh of relief. You've actually stopped a wanna-be backyard breeder from doing business!! But, strange as it sounds, we are very happy we found yorkie talk. It has changed our thoughts about many things! So what about keeping them as pets? Well, we thought we would do that at first, but they are so demanding (something we didn't know when we got them all), we can hardly keep up with 3 yorkies and 2 kids. My wife is completely overwhelmed as am I. We have decided that 1 is all we can handle. We are keeping one of the siblings and we will have her spayed. Though we will miss them, we would rather them go to a home where someone can give them the love and attention they need and really enjoy their personalities. I figure one of the Yorkie Talkers here would be best suited for caring for them. If you are interested, please PM me. I might be willing to drive 3 to 4 hours to meet you half-way. | Dwayne - I really respect you for sharing all that. I wouldn't say that anyone would be enraged... a lot of us would just want you to understand all the potential problems you would face. I'm sure you won't have a problem finding them new homes. Good luck.

| Omg !!!! do you guys realize what just happened?!!!!! Our forum just helped someone realize that breeding is not as easy as it sounds. Dcephus welcome to yorkie talk and please dont think any one would judge you badly for making a very wise decision. I applaude your post and I am so excited that this forum helped in your decision not to breed with out proper knowledge. I hope you find a great home for your pup and hope you will continue to post here. Who knows maybe in the future you will breed but the difference is you will be a knowledgable breeder. Maybe you can find a mentor and learn thru them how to breed. sue |

| Alright Dan!!! I am soooo glad you did some research and came to this conclusion!!!! I am also glad you discovered your limitations on having 3 yorkies. They are demanding aren't they? I know you will have no problem getting them in new homes. Best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!

| Thanks Hi everyone. Thanks for the warm welcome and a big special thanks to everyone who posted with their kind comments. I must admit it was exactly the opposite of what I expected. I've noticed alot of hurtful comments are made to "outsiders" when someone thinks they are a "backyard breeder" because of the question they asked about breeding." I've also seen a few comments that weren't so nice when people posted about having to get rid of their yorkies, so with combining the two, I was preparing for the worse. In fact, my wife was too scared to post, so that's why I'm doing it! I'm such a sucker! LOL. I guess we were being too judgmental, and we apologize for that! It was such a wonderful surprise to read the nice and encouraging comments from everyone. I haven't had any response regarding the puppies. Could it be the price? I was just asking what we paid for them, that is certainly not what we have in them with the vet bills, and other things. Did we pay too much? We had looked on the internet before buying ours and the prices we paid were nothing like the outrageous prices on the internet, so we thought we got a good deal? What do you guys think? I'd appreciate an honest opinion. Thanks for letting me be part of your yorkie world! Dwayne Last edited by dcephus; 05-16-2005 at 12:22 PM. |

| HONESTLY (you asked for it ) I PERSONALLY wouldn't pay very much for a CKC registered puppy. There are some in my area for $400. If I saw your ad somewhere, I'd keep looking for something cheaper w/o papers. But then again that is in Chicago. The AKC ones go from 600-1200 and up. My AKC little boy was 475 here. Of course, I'm sure they're beautiful and you won't have a problem selling them. Did you try advertising in your local paper or something? You'd definitely have to be careful and screen buyers if you're going to go that route to be sure that they can provide great care for your dogs.

| StewiesMom Stewies Mom, Thanks for your kind words about my post and for your honest opinion. Wow! I wish I would've known that when I got these two! We thought we got a great deal compared to the prices we saw on the internet. Well, I would hate to lose money, but if it comes to that, I would be willing to do so that they could have a nice home. I haven't posted for sale anywhere other than here, but I guess I could always do that. For now I will be patient and wait and see. By the way, I enjoy reading about all the tricks your stewie does! | You're welcome. Thanks for the compliment about Stewie. His best trick of today is peeing on the throw rugs in the bathroom.

| Where in the Pan Handle are you located? I'm not currently looking for a dog, but I might be able to steer some people your way.

| (ok, i hope i'm doing this correctly, i'm not sure which button to press to post a reply, but here goes): wow dwayne, it's really great that you've learned a lot on this site and that you're not gonna be one of those careless breeders!! I am also kinda new to this site and omg, i have learned sooo much from reading everything too!!!! I think this is a WONDERFUL, supportive, and extremely helpful site for anyone!! oh yeah, stewiesmom - what's the difference between AKC and CKC?? is AKC more prestigious and that's why AKC registered pups r more expensive?? Sorry, if this was explained somewhere else on this site, but i havent come across it yet becuase there's just soo much information that i havent been able to read everything. Thanks!! |
