Female Yorkie wanted in Alabama I am looking for a female yorkie in alabama for my son as a Christmas present. I would love to find a teacup yorkie but any will do. :animal36 |
Someone posted this morning looking for breeders in Alabama. I posted a bunch of ads I found in Birmingham News, Huntsville Times, Montgomery Advertiser, and the Bulletin Board, which are in the thread below. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...hlight=Alabama Beware of breeders who advertise "teacup" yorkies. There is actually no such thing as a "teacup" yorkie. Breeders who say they have "teacup" yorkies are usually only in it for the money and are usually unethical. So just be careful! You don't want to end up with a yorkie with lots of health problems and large vet bills on your hands. The bigger ones that are 5lbs and up and still teeny tiny but have much less health issues overall. |
P.S. -- How old is your son? Yorkies are VERY VERY delicate animals and are definately NOT intended for small children. |
I sent you a PM |

The female that i have will be around 7 lbs full grown. |
Mine are 4.5 and 5 lbs and do wonderfully with my children. My mom's is about 3.5lbs and he loves them also. My children have always been around animals though and have been taught from a very young age how to behave around them. |
makes no difference how well the children have been taught. Accidents happen. I know from my two small grandchildren one three and one six that they can stumble standing dead level still. When they stumble and fall on a small yorkie, the dog most likely will be dead. Someone on here had that happen when i first joined the site. a well-behaved two year old stumbled and fell on the pet and killed it. |

Yeah, well, the same 'accident' could happen just as easy with an adult. __________________ Well said!!:D |

I still constantly preach to my 5 yo who has NEVER come close to harming any of the pups or dogs here, she just says, "Mom, I KNOW!" Anyhoo...good luck with your search!:) |
I HAVE to add my 2 cents - after being around my little niece and nephews on Thanksgiving - no ....the same accidents don't happen to most adults - I saw my sisters kids fall down over 10 times while playing... and many of those falls were so close to my sons Weiner dogs (I was on pins all day). The kids thought it was big fun to chase them too - which I tried to curb... but they weren't MY kids - so you know how that goes - While accidents CAN happen to anyone - kids do fall or trip way more than adults do so I agree a tiny isn't the best dog for a house with young kids. you can have the BEST behaved kids but at certain ages they're clumsy - it just goes with the territory. |
