| :warning:buyer beware in southeast missouri I feel I was a victim of a bad breeder. I bought from Delmac Kennel www.delmacyorkies.com owned by Deborah McCabe in Southeast Missouri. The add in the dollar stretcher stated Small Quality Healthy Yorkie puppies. The women seem so nice. And she talked a good game. And she seem to care about the dogs. I ask all the right questions, so I thought. She told me the dog I choose came from a very, very good quality line. I asked her if there were any problem with the parents of the puppy. She assured me there were no problems at all. I trust people to much sometimes and I believed what she said. Well, that was my mistake, I trusting her. Her guarantee was for 2 days. Papers signed money was paid. She then gave me the a five generation pedigree showing the puppy’s parents were half brother- half sister. I questioned her about this and again she assured me breeders do this all the time and that there were no problems at all in the lineage. Two month after I had the dog he started having severe seizures and my vet thinks there is a very strong chance it’s because she breed a half brother-half sister together. I called her, to tell her what happened. she was not quite so nice this time. She was not concerned about the puppy at all. Her response was “well I don’t know what to tell you” I was so upset I couldn‘t talking to her anymore. My husband called a several times she would not answer the phone. He left a message on her answering machine and told her we wanted our money back she had sold us a sick puppy…you guessed it, she would not return our calls. I spend the most terrifying 4 day at the vets office thinking this puppy was going to die. The Vet bill is around 500.00 and climbing. This small quality healthy yorkie is now 1,300.00 plus and disabled. He will need testing and medicine the rest of his life because of a irresponible breeder. I hate to see people like her take advantage of anyone else. This woman is still using these dogs as breeders…one girl at the vets office said there was another pup brought in with seizures and she thinks it's from this same person. I spoke to a girl who bought a pup from her and had to take it to the vet twice because it was sick for other reasons. I would like to know if anyone else has had dealing with this woman. | I am sorry you're having such a bad experience...I am not sure if the convulsions can be directly related or blamed on the breeder for inbreeding. The convulsions would have to be related to a genetic defect, in your post you stated she extended a two year genetic guarantee. If it's a defect then you have a recourse. If I can add my 2 cents about inbreeding I wouldnt label a breeder a puppy mill for mating half sis/half brother she may have very good reasoning for doing so. Many experienced reputable breeders will linebreed to fix a fault or improve their breeding program. Sometimes inbreeding can result it a very good quality pup... I hope your baby gets better

| Why i feel she's a bad breeder. Is that she is still breeding these same dogs. Knowing there is a strong possibity it's genetics , passing this defect on to puppies and anyone who buy from her. Her guarantee was for 2 days ( which should of been a red flag). I feel she is more into it for the money then caring about her dogs. I have 4 other yorkie. 3 girls and one boy, my oldest is 7 years and fixed. My youngest is a 12 week old female. The women I bought her from is a wonderful, caring person. Joanne and I met about 3 month ago and became friend. I now see what a good breeder is . She has very nice dogs, She stands behind her dogs and has never had any problems or a pup to come back. She will not sell to anyone whom she feel are not right for her babies. She has taken me under her wing and teaching me about breeding. My little seizure pup was given to a good family. His new mom is a RN and his new dad is a DR. and he has been fixed. They have a female yorkie so he has a playmate. And i am waiting on puppies from my 2 year old in june ,that was breed to my friends 3 1/2 lb. male. I think she felt bad about the way I was burned by Deb McCabe. She also gave me a male yorkie to help me get started in breeding. She is my role model. And I hope I will be as good of a breeder that she is. Last edited by yorkiegirl2; 05-05-2005 at 07:14 AM. |

| 2 day guarantee??? Or did you mean to type 2 year? Oh I am really sorry this has happened to you. Is is so unfortunate beyond words and I really hope this all works out for you. Maybe you can try writing a certified letter to her and setting demands. Also keep a record of all your attemps to notify her by phone etc. I pray your little fur baby will be ok.
