I am 100 percent against brokers/puppymills and petstores but in all honesty cannot say anything bad about Susan accept that she gets her pups from Brazil and although they are healthy and well cared for I do not know for sure how the parents in Brazil are being cared for. Although, that may not bother some people it bothers me. I can't with good conscience buy knowing that my pup may have come from parents being overbred and uncared for at a puppymill. I recently went through this struggle when I found a beautiful little boy Susan had, but in the end I could not go through with it, not because there was anything wrong with the pup or any of her pups but simply because I could not be 100 percent sure that these pups were not the product of a puppymill parents. That's just my feeling on this The thing is that the woman I got Tia from also bought two dogs from Susan prior to Tia and got rid of them then was sold Tia and after she listed Tia, she went back to Susan for yet another dog and the fact that not one but four dogs in total were sold to this woman even though Susan knew the history with this woman bothered me too, but I guess that's what makes it a business. Just my .02. Susan however, does run a clean establishment and the pups seemed to be taken care of, but atleast for me, I need to know that the parents are not living in a hell hole producing litter after litter. Elaine

This is my reasoning too. This person may take excellent care of the dogs in her care but it MATTERS to me how mom and dad live too

I was recently in Vineland NJ and saw an ad for puppies, I also checked to see if they were listed on AKC site and they were. I don't recall the name of the breeder or any info on their practices but they are listed on the AKC/Yorkie site.....hope that is any help

Good luck

I can only speak for myself, but when I do purchase my Yorkie, I'm going to make sure that I know WHO the actually Breeder was, what environment the puppies were raised (I want to know they have been socialized properly), and that they come from a Breeder who actually has a vested interest, both emotionally and ethically in producing Yorkies with good health and good temperments.

And although statistically there might an opportunity to find a nice puppy from a broker, I , myself, would feel uncomfortable in purchasing from anywhere where the opportunity to actually see both the parents in person, or witness the environment where they have been socialized, is not available to me.

Besides.....who wants to miss going over to the Breeders house and playing with all the Yorkie Pups!

I would trust her 200 percent buying one of her pups. I look up to Joan as if she were my mother, heck I call her with a motherly type problem before I would call my own mom.
I love going to her house and playing with the pups when she has them

I wanted to follow up on the post I left here a few days or so back. First let me say that I really enjoy YT and have always tried to be very helpful and I am very honest in my opinions and I take offense to whoever it was that went back to Susan (TopNotchYorkies) and told her that I was bad mouthing her on YT. I want to set the record straight.

I am in no way bad mouthing Susan or her establishment. As I said in my previous post my Tia (Morkie) who is in my avatar came "Originally" from TopNotch. Tia is very healthy, her temperament is wonderful and she's very bright and thus far (She's almost a year old) has had no health issues knock on wood and she's very regal. I did not personally buy Tia from TopNotch. She came to me through an ad in the local paper. The woman selling her got her from Susan and decided to place her. Susan was very good in that she was nice enough (Even knowing how I felt about brokers, pet stores etc.) to provide me with information on Tia that the seller had not provided. I have no problem with Susan. She's a nice woman who takes good care of the pups in her care and she runs a very clean establishment and seems to enjoy what she does. Her pups are beautiful and they are very healthy and they seem happy and well adjusted.

As I said in my earlier post and I'll reiterate it again so that there is no misunderstanding. I personally choose not to buy not just from Susan but ANYONE else for that matter (Good reputation, legitimate or otherwise) unless I personally can see how the parents are being treated. I want to know first hand where my pup originally came from and meet the parents. This is something I feel very strongly about. Susan has stated on many occasions to me that she's been to Brazil and that the parents are well cared for, this could very well be the case. I'm in no way calling her a liar. For some seeing the parents is not important and for some someone's word is good enough. For me personally I NEED to see for myself and that has nothing to do with Susan or what I think of her personally. It's just a choice that I made to ensure that I never buy indirectly from a place I won't support. Susan and I have had conversations about this before, so she's aware of how I feel.

I really resent the fact that someone felt it necessary to try and cause trouble by misconstruing the jest of what I wrote and it would have been nice for this person to have posted here and confronted me, instead of feeling it their duty to try and stir someone up unnecessarily. I'm not upset that Susan was told that I posted my opinion, but I am pissed that it was told to her differently then it was meant.

Well....for all its worth....I completely understood the the way the Post was intended...and never did I think for a moment that you were writing in a derogatory way toward Topnotch...

Don't feel bad. I have actually found that this type of 'behind the scenes' stirring of the pot happens quite frequently. Lot's of times it isn't even anyone who is a member of this board...just someone with a chip on their shoulder for someone else. Don't take it personally and let it get to you. Just focus one what a great place this is overall.

where is this place that you are talking about? I am looking for a female morkie to give my 13 year old niece as a birthday gift. She wants her to be tan color, but it's hard to find them in this area. Please give me a location that is safe and breeds these adorable little puppies.
