Hi all!!!

I am brand new to yorkietalk. In fact, this is my first post! I live in Fort Worth, Texas and am looking for a little yorkie to spoil. I have no other dogs in my home and no children, except the big one I call my husband. Ha! I would really like to stay under $600 if at all possible. I don't want a yorkie for breeding purposes and plan on having my puppy spayed/neutered as soon as it is old enough. Does anyone out there know of any reputable breeders in this area, or do any of you have any puppies for sale??? Thank you so much!

Sorry I don't know of any breeders in TX...but I did find this sweet sweet little girl on Petfinder that really needs a good home. Here she is:

I know an excellent breeder just south of Ft Worth near Burleson but I know she does not have any at that price. Her website is www.chrismarkkennels.com

Thanks for the lead. She does have some adoreable yorkies, but I just don't have $1500 that I can spend on a puppy. I'm starting to wonder if I can even really find a good quality yorkie for under $600... especially since I want a little girl!

Have you looked in the newspaper? Everyone in my family has a yorkie (6 total) and every one of us found our yorkies in the newspaper. There will be some bad breeders who advertise in the newspaper, but there will also be some good ones. Just go check 'em out. I'm sure you'll be able to find a yorkie in your price range that you will just love to death!

I check www.dfw.com classifieds and www.backpage.com every day!!! Do you know of some other place I should be looking?

How far are you willing to travel? I would look in the classifieds from surrounding cities as well, depending on how far you are willing to travel. I was living in Birmingham at the time I was looking for a yorkie, but I found my yorkie in the Huntsville newspaper. I looked in newspapers from all over my state. Granted, Texas is MUCH bigger than Alabama!

But, at least you have a lot of newspaper to choose from!

Also look on petfinder.com. Sometimes they will have yorkie puppies that you can adopt.

If you are willing to travel to Alabama, I can give you the listings from newspapers here. They always have yorkies around $600. Would you ever be over this way for any reason?

I am sorry I never got back to you. I just found the name of the breeder I told you about, but I want to call her and ask if she is still breeding, since it has been a long time since we talked to her. I will let you know what I find out...but I do think that she sells her girls for around $1000!!

Here are some previous threads I've found about breeders/yorkies in TX. I guess you could just start calling breeders. Maybe one of them has an older yorkie that they will sell for a reduced price. Doesn't hurt to try. I know the first thread is a little sketcy, but there's some good info on there nonetheless.

You can look in the Dallas Morning News classified section and find yorkies for sale in the price range that you are looking for. There is sometimes 20 or more ads in their paper with yorkies for sale.

At least you can visit the environment that they are raised in and decide from there. Good luck on your search for a yorkie to love.

I got my Tootie from Detroit, TX -- Brad Anderson. I know he travels to Dallas alot and Tootie(boy) was inexpensive. He is not a tiny yorkie but I know they had some the last time I looked... I never had any health problems with him, he is BIG but healthy and was very afforable.

You're looking for a good quality yorkie for under $600. That is going to be somewhat difficult. I check out the Houston Chronicle a lot and you can find yorkie males for as low as $450 but what kind of quality will those dogs be?

You may consider saving your money a little longer and spend a little more or you can check out petfinder.com and look for a rescue.
