| Being more specific Hi everyone again this is the 3rd time I am posting a thread about finding a yorkie. After reading and talking to many of you on here I thought about it and maybe I wasnt being specific enough. I have learned that not only is the purchaser looking for a good breeder but also the breeder is looking for a good purchaser. ( MEANING GOOD PARENTS TO THIER PUPPIES). So here I am back again to be a bit more specific and also for you to learn a bit about me. My name is Jessica I live in Syracuse NY which is Upstate. I am 24 yrs old. My boyfriend and I own a big house north of syracuse with a big fenced in backyard. Lots of room to run and play. Its a great neighborhood with many children and other dogs (friends). I used to have a yorkie named Lily but that was 2 1/2 yrs ago. I love animals and I have a lot of room for a new person in our family. My boyfriends name is Dave and is just as excited about finding a new family memeber as I am. I am NOT looking to breed but just want one to love. I have been searching for months and still have not come up with anything. I will not purchase one over the internet nor will I do shipping. I have read way too many horror stories and do not want to take the chance. I would like to come to where the puppy is and pick him/her up myself. If anyone knows someone or has any helpfull info please reply back. Thanx and have a great day |

| If you find a puppy on petfinder.com or one of the other websites, you can always request to visit the breeder and select a puppy, as well as avoid having it shipped. I got Lexy on petfinder and drove about 6 hours one way to get her. It was worth it to meet her breeder and to see her parents. I also hated to ship a tiny puppy, but I would if that was the only way to get one where I lived. |

| I got my father his yorkie through petfinder. Her breeder kept her as a show potential but it didn't work out. Then her breeder bred her a couple of times but her pups wasn't what the breeder wanted in her breeding line. After that she got spayed and placed. I always bragged that I got a champion bloodline dog, fully vetted, spayed, beautiful coat, totally housetrained and has the best temperment for absolutely free. Actually, I wanted to keep her for myself but my father took her and that was the end of the story. I forgot to add. I was given her AKC paper along with her pedigree!! But it look me over 1 year of searching to find her. Last edited by yorkieagility; 04-07-2005 at 09:00 AM. |

| My mix is a petfinder find (rescue) as well. It took me almost a year to find her, but it was well worth the wait. What I would do is check petfinder every time I turned on my computer. Good luck with your search!

| The Classified Ads section Never underestimate the power of the Classified ads section of your local, or not local papers. We found our pup in one of the hundreds of yorkie listings in the Knoxville, TN paper. Find all the big cities within two or three hours of you and look up their classifieds on their newspaper's website. Good luck! :-)

| In our area we have local internet providers,, so local people advertise things for sale and items wanted, If you have anything like that in your area, check into that, Thats how I found Bailey, plus I didnt have to drive far to get him. Good Luck in your search, took me over a year to find my Bailey!
