Default Puppy Boutique, AKA Puppy Petite is Bad News for Puppies

When I told Vincent I wanted to be reimbursed for the vet visits he said it's only ear mites, not fleas and tics. The mother probably had them. I told him a good breeder wouldn't breed a dog with ear mites. Snowball is also very aggressive. My hands are all bitten up. They told me I should get a trainer. I paid $1300 for Snowball and I don't like his attitude. It took me 8 weeks to get the papers because I kept bugging him and when I finally got them the breeder's full name isn't on the application = only M.Elsa. The breeders address is the same address as the store. Where is she breeding theses puppies. This is not a pet store and they supposedly breed the dogs themselves. The only other time I've seen a puppy behave this way is when my sister got her poodle at Puppy Boutique.
This store should be put out of business. The one year guarantee they advertise is absurd. I traveled all the way to NYC to pick up a puppy that I thought would be the same one that Puppy Petite emailed me a picture of. It wasn't, however I purchased him anyway. Before traveling to NYC, the owner emailed me and told me the prices for their "teacup yorkies" were between $500-$1500; however, they were realistically between $1000-$2500. I purchased my baby for $1600...only for him to die 2 weeks later due to congenital problems.

His condition was verified by three vets and it was determined that he had a congenital disorder. Puppy Boutique still refused to return my money or exchange my dog. I have no other choice but to pursue legal assistance now. They do not sell good, healthy puppies and they have poor customer service.

Please do not purchase from this pet store, they have negative ratings from Consumer Reports and have changed their business name a couple of times to stay in business. They are known as Puppy Boutique and Puppy Petite. They are rated as unsatisfactory by the Better Business Bureau. Please help spread the word.

Default Puppy Boutique Is Very Bad News

I'm sorry for the loss of your Yorkie pup. Today I met a woman who said she bought her Yorkie from Puppy Boutique when he was 6 months old. She said he started having trouble walking. She took him to the vet and there was a problem with his hip socket. It wasn't the way it was supposed to be and he had to have surgery. Now he is fine. She took Puppy Boutique to small claims court for the vet bills and won, but PUPPY BOUTIQUE never paid her for the surgery. She also said a woman on the next block bought a Yorkie there and she had the same problem. Puppy Boutique gets truckloads of puppies a week. Report them to the Better Business Bureau. You can do it online and go to the Humane Society website and you can download forms to report them. Good Luck.

Default Puppy Mill Pups from Pet Shops

Sorry to hear about the horrible experiences with pet shop pups. It really drives the message home about the dangers of buying from those poor pups from pet shops who get them from puppy mills.

I live in near a pet shop in Yonkers (the next town over) called Exotic Warehouse that sells puppies. Back in January, I went inside, just to look, to be honest, I had been looking for a reasonably priced Yorkie for a while and was getting a little desperate! The shop was horrible, dirty and smelly I was immediately turned off. But, there was a teapot Yorkie, 16 weeks old and had to weigh 7 - 8lbs, for only $400! He was also EXTREMELY timid, apparently from lack of human contact. My heart went out to him but I managed to walk away knowing the dangers of buying from a pet shop.

A month later, I ended up rescuing a pup from that same pet shop. I bought him for $200 from someone who originally purchased him from EW. He is also a teapot - at 9 months he weighed 9.5lbs. He is the strangest looking Yorkie because he does not have the gene to grow the long coat the breed is known for. However, I could not resist because he seemed to be in an abusive situation and I could not leave him there. He was also VERY hand shy, (I think from being hit) timid and has luxating pattella, grade two, both knees. In spite of it all he is turning out to be a real sweetheart, I am glad I rescued him. But he is a lesson we all need to keep passing on - stay away from pet shops. These puppy mills are really ruining the breed.

Same thing happened to my best friend with her yorkie- at the same place- her pup passed away 2 weeks after she got him it was heartbreaking!!! I urged her to take them to small claims court out of prinicipal for the situation and she won- I thought it was important for the court to know this is happening and if enough people file complaints they could get shut down- I'm so sorry that happened to you

Default Possible Puppy Mill

Well, after doing a bit of research, I found out that my little baby that passed away was not from a local, trusted breeder as Puppy Boutique said. He's actually from a suspected puppy mill in Iowa. I'm still doing further research on where their dogs really come from and I refuse to just let this go. In addition to taking them to court, I plan to spread the word about their dishonest business.

If anyone has any tips on reporting them, research, etc. please let me know.

Default Report Puppy Boutique

You can report Puppy Boutique to the:

1. Better Business Bureau
2. Consumer Affairs
3.Humane Society - has forms you can print to report the Pet Store and Breeder
4.write letters to the local newspapers in Bensonurst,Brooklyn where they are located
5.Write a letter to the Daily News - they have a pet section

My friend bought a puppy from World of Pets in Staten Island,New York. They also have a store in Brooklyn. Her puppy died of parvovirus. He wouldn't give her a refund. She went in there constantly and made a scene until they gave her a refund. Good luck

Hi! What area of NY? I currently live in Las Vegas but NY is my hometown. I have a litter of 5 pups that are six weeks old. I will be in town (Rockland/Westchster Cty)this Sat. If you are interested, I can bring one of the boys with me for you. I usually charge 1200 for the males, but will sell him for 1000 plus what ever the airline charges to bring him along. I have many references for my pups in the NY area, Long Island and Rockland County. My dogs are UKC registered, healthy, very loving, and adorable!
Let me know if your interested....

The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America recommends that puppies be kept with mother for a minimum of 12 weeks. This is way too young to be selling yorkies, please do more reading on the importance of keeping the babies till at least 12 weeks. Also, I don't believe the airlines will allow you to fly a pup that young. Here's a link stating why the 12 week rule is so important. Why do Maltese puppies need to be 12 weeks old before going to a new home?? It's about maltese, but the same holds true for other small breeds like yorkies. By the way, I've never heard of the UKC, what is it?

It's another dog registry....I'm not sure what the requirements are to register a dog though.
