| Hello new friends! My name is Lisa (aka The Dinomom) and my beautiful 11 yr old daughter is Sk8erGrl in the previous post. I run a Guinea Pig Online Community, much like this forum, called CaviesGalore. We started with one pet store pig when my daughters were ready for their first pet, 6 years ago. We now have a herd of 5 sows and I have learned a lot about pet stores and purchasing live animals from them. My pigs are rescues and much loved and spoiled. Now that my girls are 15 and 11, we are ready to take on a doggie. I am a stay at home mom and we run a business selling on Ebay so I definitely have the time now that the kids are more independent. Of course I have been checking Humane society listings and petfinder, but have not found a rescue. I looked at the want ads and the PuppyFind listings, but really got turned off there. Every other listing was a scam artist. Nigeria, indeed. I wonder how many good folks get taken in by them? Bad Karma for them, and that may be worse than the law anyway.... Anyway, I am just starting to navigate around the site and it is very impressive. Lots and lots of helpful members. It looks like Yorkies can become addicting! I'm excited and hope we find our new family member soon....... |
