| Yorkie wanted !!!! Hello EVERYONE!!!! My name is Lindsay Sweeney. I am married to a perfect man, Anthony. We have been happily married for 8 years. We have a beautiful baby girl, her name is Kaylee she is about to turn 6 years old in 3 months. Anyway, The reason im posting, is to ask anyone if they could let me know where to find a tea cup yorkie/silky terrier/ or plain yorkie. I would like to spend no more than $500. I have had yorkies all my life. I currrently have a silky terrier, she is 7years old and she really does not like to play or anything, as do all dogs at that age. So Im looking to find another one. But I have been searching and finding these outrageous prices!!!!! I am from Philadelphia, Pa. I love animals and so does my daughter. She actually carries around a dog cage with a stuffed animal in it. lol. Our silky terrier Gigi is up there in years, so she doesn't want to play much. Im currently a student at the community college of philadelphia nursing program. I love animals and I always have. Yorkies are my favorite because since the age of 6-16, i had a yorkshire terrier, i trained him, feed him, bathed him and took him everywhere with me. Yes I am one of those weirdos who takes their dog everywhere!! lol. They are family. They are so precious. My daughter has wanted a puppy forever, I just cannot find a yorkie for the right price. im also intersted in the yorkie-bichons. or shorkies are cute too. but with the light blonde hair .... I am particularly looking for a tea cup dog. I know they are more expensive though.... I figured I would give this a shot. Hopefully someone sees this and can help me!!! im going crazy !!!! $8-$900 is alot of money. Please send me some names of breeders or pet farms online. I know this website specializes in yorkie's !!!! Thank you for your time and cooperation! In desperate need of feedback!!!!!!!!!!! |

| All I can say is for you to be VERY CAUTIOUS!!! Reasons: A reputable breeder will never advertise using the words "tea cup" where Yorkies are concerned, because there is no such thing. A reputable breeder will be VERY reluctant to sell a tiny Yorkie to a family with children. You will not likely find a HEALTHY Yorkie from a reputable breeder for $500.00 or less, as we usually have that much tied up in a puppy by the time they are 12 weeks old! Watch your contract very carefully, a reputable breeder will have a very detailed contract, to ensure the pups safety. I was going to suggest a rescue facility, but I am not sure if you can even get a Yorkie for $500.00 or less from a rescue center. Good luck with your search....my experience in this area of buying pups would suggest to you to start saving your money until you can go to a reputable breeder and purchase you a healthy dog, one where you will at least have a breeder that will stand by her dog if something does pop up health wise. Also, you will need a reserve savings account for the annual required medical care, and extra for emergencies! Good luck with your decision on a plan of action! |

| A smaller yorkie isnt the best dog to get for a family dog. The larger yorkies can run and play with children where the smaller ones are norally nervous around them. There is a big difference in how my chachi who is 15 lbs is around my daughter and how Jewels who is 8 lbs is

| "Please send me some names of breeders or pet farms online" Please do not buy a dog from a "pet farm". Please do your research. You are proabably not going to find a tiny puppy selling for under $800, if your patient you might be able to find a smaller one at a rescue or maybe buy a retired breeder or a re-home. Do not buy a dog because it is cheap, this is a huge red flag, especially with yorkies, if its too good to be true it probably is.

| Lindsey- Do more research before you buy. Cheap Yorkies = Big problems. Pet farm???? They only words this brings to mind is Puppy Mill!!! A 7 year old Silky is not up in years! I would not recommend a small yorkie with an active 6 year old. They are not toys. Cozy my 6 year old larger yorkie is always full of herself. I have a friend with a 16 year old yorkie that is still go-go-go.

| People who advertise "tea cup"yorkie's for sell are only after the sellers money, the smaller the yorkie the more likely the pup can have genetic problems to liver shunts, try to stay from that. The average size of a yorkie should be between 4-7 Lbs, that is small. SOme yorkies will grow bigger then that so it can be difficult to determin how big the puppy will be fully grown. Even my 10 pound yorkie is small, she has fairly long hair right now that makes her look a little bigger, these are fragile dogs who can be highly tempermental and can have a stubborn streak, as you probably already are aware of. A pet farm to me = a puppymill, be careful not to go there, or be tempted to buy from a puppy store either, they will have outrageous fees, and often they get their pups from mills. Look for reputable breeders in your area, however, the cost will be at least twice as much as your wanting to pay for a healthy puppy. Plus the costs of vet care for the first year is expensive. I think you ought to read some of yt's threads and get a good feel about them, often times little children and little puppies are not a ood match, but it depends on the child too.

| Welcome to YT. I suggest that before you start actively trying to acquire a new pooch, you take some time to do a little more research on the breed. A good place to start is with the YT rules section, which brings to point a few very crucial points which you as a new member, have no doubt missed: We do not allow threads begging for free puppies or looking for puppies at extreme reduced costs. Yorkies are generally from $500 on up, with most being in the $1000 to $1500 range. Please do not post looking for Yorkies below $500. If your budget for a Yorkie does not allow for $500 or more, you may want to look into Yorkie rescues or adoptions of older Yorkies, as they may be better suited to your price range. Please note since there is no "teacup Yorkie" standard, any threads or posts looking for a teacup will be deleted or closed. There is no such breed! Pretty much sums it up. Talk to some breeders, find out WHY their prices are what they are and the costs they are trying to cover before deeming them "ridiculous." You might be surprised. |
