| HELP...NY breeder? I have been checking most the day for a reputable breeder in NY, and I am having no luck. Most the one's I find are spamming "teacup" size, and are willing to ship anywhere. I bought Kaos in a pet store (I had no idea about the place I got him when I did) and I want to get his little sister from a responsible breeder this time. I'm not ready for a new addition quite yet, but hopefully will be in the next couple of months. Does anyone know any NYC breeders??

| I would try to locate you local kennel club. You may have some luck if you google "NY kennel clubs." Also if you go to the akc.org there is a place where you can find breed clubs that are located in your state.I would think that NYS must have at least a couple of Yorkshire Terrier breed clubs. Contacting people that are associated with these clubs should get you some names of people who breed Yorkies that are not in it as a wholesale industry. |

| I went to akc.org and apparently the only Yorkie club in NY is in NYC. their contact info is on the website. The breeder referral person only has an address listed so I guess you will have to write to get any info. You can also go to akc.org and click on clubs, then club search, and then conformation clubs (by state). Select all breed and then your state and search. You will come up with a lot of local clubs. Find the ones that are closest to you. I don't think anyone lists a email address for breeder contact person so you still are going to have to contact someone by mail. There is also a breeder look up place on the akc site. None of this guarantees a quality puppy but at least they are not puppy mills for the most part. Of course you still need to do your homework checking for yourself what kind of breeder they are. |
