| Wanted: Yorkie in the Oklahoma area I have been looking for a Yorkie in the surrounding Okla area. I have been diligently checking all the local papers, the thrifty nickel, petfinder and several pet classifieds on the internet. I am not picky whether male or female. I have even filled out several adoption applications (even though they state fence yard required and no small children) and just waiting for a reply. I live on 15 acres with no fenced yard and my smallest child is 6 and loves animals even more than myself. It is very hard not to get frustrated with the adoption agencies and all their rules and regulations. I will love an animal possibly more than someone who might meet the requirements. I would love to rescue a Yorkie but may have to resort to purhasing one. I have seen prices all over the place. I am not sure what a fair price would be because I have no interest in showing a dog. I also don't want to get ripped off. My husband would not understand spending a lot of money on a dog. He doesn't quite share my love of animals but I told him he married "Ellie Mae" and should have done his homework a little better because I am not going to change. Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for the posts about the animals at the rescue agencies that are posted on Petfinder. Two of them are ones that I actually filled out adoption applications. Sorry this got a little long. First time, can you tell? |

| Hi! I don't know how far you are willing to travel, but there are always yorkies on www.kansas.com which is in Wichita. That's about 3 hours away from Tulsa. I'm originally from Oklahoma! I miss it! I drive through Sapulpa (or at least the exit for it! ), on my way home to visit my parents! Have you also looked at www.tulsaworldstuff.com (Tulsa paper) & www.newsok.com (okc paper)? They usually have yorkies in there. Good luck! I think there is even a breeder in Oklahoma & 1 in Kansas (Hutchinson area) on YorkieTalk. If you read back through the posts under Yorkies for Sale, you can probably find them. Again, Good Luck! |

| I got my sweet little boy from a breeder in Oaks, OK, It's between Siloam Springs, AR and Tulsa, OK. I'm not sure if she has any Yorkie puppies right now. Her name is Dorothy Hensley, email: up_the_creek49@yahoo.com. She charges $500.00

| I just wanted to update everyone on my search for a Yorkie. The craziest thing is that I have made contact (by email) with about 5 different people and every single one has given me a similar story. Someone just came and got the dog, then was transferred to either Africa, Nigeria or somewhere for mission work and then called requesting they find a new owner for the Yorkie. Some of them wanted the amount they paid for the dog plus shipping charges from the location and then some would give the dog for free but wanted shipping charges. I just received my 6th one this morning. Now I was directed by several individuals to the puppyfind.com website and this is where most of it is taking place. Now I did contact one through another website (sorry, I can't remember which one) and the website contacted me immediately stating it was a possible scam and to send ABSOLUTELY no money. I just wanted to let everyone else know in case there were others out there like me........a little to quick to be trusting. Now, granted I have not sent any of them any money and actually sent them an email back stating that they were operating a scam and would receive no money from me. One of them was actually here in Oklahoma. Shame on all of you!!!!!!!! I did talk to a lady last night (bless her heart that I am so suspicious now) from Oklahoma and she is a breeder and I think we are going to try to make arrangements for a dog. It is so hard to make a decision based on a picture alone. I could drive the 2 1/2 hours to look and then decide but won't be able to get the puppy until next week because of one more detail she needs to take care of. Or my other option is to make a decision from a picture, or drive the distance to look and then she will deliver to me on Thursday for no additional charge. Oh what a hard decision to make. But thank all of you for your replies and to those of you who I have talked to on the phone. I will for sure let you know if this doesn't work out. |
