Also, be wary of e-mails or private messages. Just because they are a YT member doesn't make them reputable. We have had scammers and bad breeders on here. You should probably ask for public offerings or once you are seriously considering someone ask here for a review so members can help you recognize "red flags." Good luck on your search for a healthy happy pup! Feel free to ask questions here! The YTCA is a good starting point, but remember to do your research!

Research is the key.. Just because a breeder belonging to the YTCA does not mean they are reputable breeders.

Please note though. In my opinion, the YTCA is a better starting point than online searches or newspaper ads, etc. Whatever you decide I do recommend doing your research on how to spot warning signs and what questions you should be asking of your breeder. If you go with a rescue, you have to research the rescue as well. A lot of mills pose as rescues.

The YTCA doesn't guarantee that the breeder is reputable. But it's the best place to start your search and garner a lot of helpful information. To the OP- please be very wary about any puppy offers you get via pm's. There are scammers here on YT just like every place else. Do your research so you don't get burned.

Have you thought about looking at rescues or at your local shelters? There are soooo many homeless dogs due to the economy. Good luck with your search! Would love to see pictures when you find your new family member.
