| Also, and please forgive me for being a kill joy, yorkies are like having a baby around. Can you and your gf handle 2 babies at the same time?

| I have to agree. I'm a mom of 4 and have Yorkies so know it's so exhausting to be pregnant without having to try potty training a puppy at the same time especially when you can't even see the little guy over your belly! I couldn't even tie my shoes at the end...imagine trying to clean up messes! |

| I suggest getting an adult yorkie and not a puppy, if you have to get one while she is pregnant. I have seen a lot of yorkies on here for sale, that are 1-3 years old. I think that would be great in your situation so you can skip the potty-training! Good luck. |

| I would never recommend a tiny Yorkie and a baby together. It too often spells Disaster for the dog. Tiny dogs are better fitted with older children above 10 yrs old. How will you keep the dog safe from a toddler ? Yorkies and most tiny breeds can be fragile. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Just my opinion here, but a new dog and pregnancy don't mix well, at least not in my case. The smell of poo and morning sickness was not a good mix! To top it off, I ended up on bedrest and couldn't interact with the dog as I had planned. It made me feel horribly guilty. A new addition, whether a puppy or a baby, is a BIG change and is best done one at a time.

Now is not a good time to get any puppy but especially not a Yorkie. Please do some reading on this breed and puppies in general before you buy one for her. Congratulations on the new baby!

| Timing is everything! There will be many sleepless nights, worries, exhaustion, messes to clean, smiles, joy, laughter and lots of love coming your way... ...and that's just with the puppy! LOL But seriously~ While it is a sweet thought to add that puppy now and complete your 'happily ever after dream', the reality is that it would be like adding another baby to the family mix. Not trying to shoot down your idea completely, but the timing isn't ideal. In this case the puppy will most likely be the one to end up lacking the attention and guidance it will need to grow into a confident and wonderful family dog...especially once your human baby arrives. I do wish you the best in your decision though. Lots to think about. Congratulations to the both of you on the newly expected baby!
