| Re-Homing Yorkie Wanted In VA!!!! PLEASE HELP US FIND OUR NEW FAMILY MEMBER! Hello Fellow Yorkie Lovers! I wanted to clarify from my last post - please read! While I welcome ANY help you can offer in finding us a forever baby, please note: I will not ship animals, so if you are not within driving distance of Northern VA, please do not contact me to buy your puppy...it's heartbreaking when we get excited only to find out you are 10 hours away! We WILL drive quite a ways tho... My family is looking to adopt a yorkie as our family pet. I am looking to find one that is needing a new home vs. going straight to a breeder. We are not looking for AKC or show rights or breeding rights or anything that comes with full breeds. (which is why we are looking to adopt) We don't mind if they are a mix or not, AKC registered or not, and we don't mind a small re-homing fee. It doesn't matter whether he or she comes from another home, shelter, etc We have had yorkies before and ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! We simply are looking for a small, young baby to call our own and spoil! If you know of anyone looking to re-home a baby, please let me know! He or she will have a wonderful life with us, and will be loved by us all. Please help us find our new family member, it would mean so much. We have been led astray several times already in our search for our puppy, so I am hoping that someone here can lead us in the right direction! thanks so much and Happy New Year!!! |

| I wish you luck in finding your new family member. I didn't see the post/thread you were referring to. Perhaps if you had this post moved to that thread you will get more replies. It is good to hear that you won't be involved with shipping animals, I don't ship my pups - I would rather lose a sale than ship a pup. I also don't see a 10 hour drive as excessive - particularly when you are looking for a "rehome". Once again, good luck in you search. Last edited by chattiesmom; 01-10-2009 at 06:55 AM. |

| Re-Homing Yorkie Wanted In VA!!!! PLEASE HELP US FIND OUR NEW FAMILY MEMBER! Thank you so much! It has been a long road trying to find a puppy and not get scammed at the same time! That's strange that you didn't see my other post, it is in the same thread...1/4/09. The only difference is that I clarified that I will not ship a puppy. Thanks for responding! |

| You should look in the rescue section and on petfinder.

| Have you tried Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder - you just put in the breed & your zip code & they pull up recue pups starting with those closest to you. I look way too often - just to see what is out there. Good luck & thank you for being willing to give a pup a forever home

| I have been frequenting those websites on a very regular basis and so far, nothing. I have found a couple, and there is one male yorkie I am very iterested in, but I haven't been able to get the owner to respond, so I am thinking he has already found him a new home. That's why I was so happy to find this website - I was hoping someone here could help! Thanks for all the suggestions! Keep them comin'! PLEASE!! |

| Yes, that is part of the issue - I have found a lot of yorkies, but they are all marked "no kids" because of their size. Most are coming from shelters or rescues and are very strict on that point, regardless of the fact that all of my kids are used to having pint sized animals. |

| We definitely have no issues with age - I have looked at both older and younger and puppies. I have been looking at breeders, and I have to say, since the last time we bought a yorkie (15 years ago), the price has gone up drastically! I know that they put the restrictions on kids for a reason, but before they say for absolute no kids, I think it should be on a case by case. My kids have known small breeds since the day they were born, and are very used to being around them, how to care for them, and to be careful with them. My kids are 12, 10, and 6. |

| Your children certainly seem old enough to be around a small dog, I would rather not place my puppies in a home with kids younger than that, though. Good luck with your search in finding a yorkie. |

| I have a 3 year old AKC female that I'm retiring this month. Her spay and teeth cleaning is scheduled for January 28th. Her adoption fee is $500 and includes her surgery and cleaning. She is approx 7 lbs, loves everyone, always wagging her tail, she's a sweetheart. I used to be a nanny for 2 year old twins and had her around them many times, she loved them and did great. She's UTD on shots and regular heartworm, peepad trained (but likes to go outside too), and she loves to dress up and carry toys around in her mouth. I don't think I'm too far from you, but you can contact me at ndstack@gmail.com if you want more info about her! Last edited by EmrldShdwQueen; 01-10-2009 at 03:24 PM. |

| This is GREAT advice. My little Lilly was found through Petfinder.com. She came to us at 13 weeks old and is now 19 months old. The best thing about adopting through a rescue is that your new friend will come to you spay or neutered as well as being up to date on shots and vetted. The adoption fee varies from $250 - $400. We paid $400 for Lilly. It's a great savings though as the spay/neuter and vetting all will add up to more than the adopt fee. Good Luck and thank you for considering adopting. | I wish you all the luck in the world finding your new baby. You sound very responsible, and I don't think you're children are to young. Maybe you can try applying to the ones that say no kids, and mention the ages of your kids. When they see their ages they may overlook it.
