| Pricing yorkies in the states for a friend...HELP I am only checking pricing in different states here, I am not asking for free dogs are cheap cheap dogs. but due to not know each state and which are better then other's I need some help. If you can help, please do.. I know yorkies sell at prices by supply and demand.. from what I have seen on yt,.. where are the best prices for healthy yorkies for some one wanting to buy two at the same time, and maybe fly to pick them up. I know there is a thread out there that speaks of yorkie prices like in California going higher then some other states being lower.. I know prices high or low does not mean the best yorkie health wise either way. I have just met some one who bought a great looking darling who are in our park from NC and he paid 700 hundred and the darling weighs 2 pounds at over 4 months, then other times tinies are a fortune. I am not saying I am looking for a tiny.. just using that as an example.. I am helping a friend look for a yorkie, maybe two. I say it is just as easy to train two at once then to do one, then another down the road, also it makes the yorkies a lot closer being together for crate training.. buying a pair of siblings to me they would not be lonely..be closer being together and not split up.. Please Help...if anyone has some suggestion on states where to look., I also am not familiar with states that are more prone to puppy mills, would like to stay clear of that.. pooh's mum |

| I would buy a pup in your state that you can see and meet the breeder etc. You might save $$ buying a pup from another state ( not sure) but in the long run you are taking a chance that you will not get the pup you thought you were going to get, or getting a sick pup with lots of vet bills and other problems that come with buying a pup that you have never seen ,from a person you don't know. Mabey post and explain what you are looking for and the price you would like to spend etc. There might be a breeder here on YT that can help you. There are puppymills in every state. . | I think that yorkies are more expensive in the northeast and on the west coast (california). The prices seem to drop in the central states and in the south. Stay away from Missouri..its a very big puppymill state, although all states will have them. In GA, prices range from $600 and up...good luck!

| I paid $800 for my AKC registered female. At 10 weeks, she is weighing 1lb. The place she came from isn't really in it for the money though.

| Poohs Mom. A couple of tips. You would be better looking within driving distance of where you live, this way you can actually see the living environments of not only the pup but the parents. This will insure that you do not buy from a back yard breeder or puppymill. Also, just because you pay a lot for a pup does not guarantee that that pup did not come from a puppymill or byb. There is one guy mentioned many times on this site that sells over the internet for prices in the thousands for tiny pups and the living condition of these pups are horrendous. There are quite a few that received sick pups from this person. Remember a con man is just that and he's good at what he does so not matter how nice someone is through email or phone means nothing. You are better seeing your pup the living environment for both pup and parents. If someone is not willing to let you see the parents. Walk away. Walk away even if the pup itself looks healthy. 9 times out of 10 this is a broker. Most brokers get their dogs from mills. Many states such as PA (The Amish) are the biggest offenders. They are the biggest puppymills out their, but there are also plenty in the mid west too. However, I don't think it's fair to group everyone from that state as a mill etc. Yes, they have a hire rate but it's unfair to say that just because you come from a certain area and sell Yorkies that you are a mill. A good clue would be if they sell more then one breed, many breeds to be specific and designer breeds. This is usually a good sign that they are a byb or mill. If money is an issue - please consider rescue as well. On average an adoption fee for a rescue is about $400 and that includes the vetting, shots and spay/neuter and dental when needed. It's a win win situation for all. It's a misconception that some have when they thing rescue only has old or sick dogs or problem dogs. In many cases you will find a young Yorkie or even a pup. AND, even an older dog does very well since rescues are just so happy to finally have a loving home. They are in most cases easier to train as they are more inclined to want to please you. I have five Yorkies and all but one were rescue. Since most look for puppies, I like to use my Lilly as the "Rescue Poster child." LOL. She is a pure breed Yorkie that came to us at 13 weeks. She is now eight months and is beautiful, ears up, hair growing nicely and weighing in at 3 lbs. If you are interested in rescue you can go to www.petfinder.com and if not I do know that quite a few reputable breeders were mentioned in Florida and surrounding areas. Best of luck Elaine |

| I paid 800 for mine here in Florida. I would try to do a through search in your state first, so you can get to see the pups and mom & dad.

| I would also suggest looking in your local area or within driving distance. It is always better to check out the pup and the breeders in person. Also, when you go in person, you could see which pup you like the most or have more connection with......or let the pup pick you! I went to couple places before I found Chloe and she was the one actaully picking me! |
