| What a weekend!! Well, I will never forget this past weekend. My older daughter and her hubby were driving the (motor) camper and we followed behind in our car. We were on our way to a show and our camper died. My hubby thinks it threw a rod. Apparently it had been leaking oil and did not know it. Well, then we were stuck on the side of I-95 at until 4AM. We finally got to a hotel at 6AM, but they wanted to charge us a nights stay if we had checked in, so lucky we had the car and stayed in it a few hours to sleep. Now you are talking about 4 dogs, one being a lab, the others yorkies and all of our stuff from the camper in the car with us. We lppked like sardines in a can. But we made it and checked in to the hotel at 8AM. We sleeped to like 5:30 PM and missed the Sat. showing. But things were looking better that evening and made the decision to go to the show on Sun. This way we could say we tried. That night we packed the rest of the stuff from the camper. We were able to get travel bags for the top of the car. They work great!! Well, we made it to the show and not only that but Gigi took winners and got her first points. :-) We finally made it home this morning at 3AM. Wow, what a weekend!! Oh, the camper - it is a loss. My husband met someone at the show that lived in the town and is going to tow it to his home and use it as a hunting camper. LOL Well, no more campers for us. We plan to use a hotel from now on!! | Congratulations!!!!! Sorry about the camper, I too have had plenty of car trouble when I used to be crazy enough to drive to Florida every year (yes, from MD) and have spent my fair share of nights on I-95. But if I won a dog show the next day, I wouldn't have cared one bit!!! Can we see some pics of the little champion??

Yes, it was totally unbelievable when she won. She almost took BOB. You could tell the judge really liked her. He tried to give her all the opportunity. She has a great personality, even in the ring and it shows. The judge even placed her and the already champion on the table side by side together, but Gigi had had enough by then. She thought - "hey, I got my class, and winners. What more do you want??" She started acting up and just could not calm down. She had it by then. I do not blame her. We did not think we would get anything after all we had been through, poor babies. And Gigi was the youngest one there - 12 - 18 months old. What a little trooper!! And - my daughter was showing her, while I showed another one of ours. I was very proud of my dughter too. It was only her second time in the ring. She was suppose to come over this past week to practice, but had finals. So Gigi winning was a wonderful surprise to us all. We took photos at the show by the show photographer, but they will take a few weeks to come back. But my son in-law took photos. They are on their way home now and when I get them I will share. T.

Thanks you all so much. It was such a shock and we are so happy. Actually beyond happy - thrilled. They say the hardest thing to do is to get the first points. I learned a very valuable lesson though = campers look like fun, but with the way gas prices keep going up - they will just put a whole in your pocket. It cost about 80.00 each time we filled up on the way there and we filled up twice. The camp site at the show for two days was 70.00, you pay in advance. Not to mention the money we put in it already and the cost of buying it. So really the way to go is just get a nice hotel and enjoy the maid service. LOL!! I am soooo glad that we did make the show on Sunday. I just wish we could have made it there Saturday too. And Shirley - I can't wait for you to be at the shows to, so we can hang out. We will have a blast! T.

Congratulations on your point! Its exciting, isn't it. The next point or points will be a breeze. She's a beautiful gal. I should let hubby read about your camper experiences!!! He wants to get a brand new one. But the only way is to sell everything - house included. I don't think its a good idea. Ya need a place to call home. Anyway, keep up the good work.

oops, this one of Easy did not make it the last time. T. Yes, hold off getting a camper. Like someone told me at the show - you just ahev to expect campers to break down. If I ever get another one, which will be a long time from now if ever, it will have to be a pull behind. This way it is less likely to leave you stranded! Believe me it was not fun. Oh yea, towing add this in - 175.00 cash, just to the next town. So does showing cost a lot - yes!! If you do it like I do. LOL!! T. Last edited by topknot; 04-30-2007 at 07:02 PM.
